A Conversation for Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire Spoiler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post 1

Baldrick

Harry is rescued by the Weasleys to go to the Quidditch World Cup, which Ireland win despite the Bulgarian Seeker, Viktor Krum, catching the Snitch. After the match, there's trouble. A group of Voldemort's supporters send the Dark Mark into the air and a Ministry minister's house-elf is caught with Harry's wand near where it was sent up.......
Harry gets back to school with no problems(for the very first time). The new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher is revealed as a 'Professor Moody', who used to work as an Auror catching dangerous magical criminals, and Hermione refuses to eat because the food was prepared by unpaid house-elves. Dumbledore then makes an announcement - no Quidditch Cup! This is because Hogwarts will be hosting the Triwizard Cup, an old five-yearly wizarding contest between a champion from Hogwarts and one from the other two great European schools of magic. They arrive shortly - and one of the members of the other schools is Viktor Krum, the Bulgarian Seeker. To enter yourself as a champion, you must be over 17 and then place your name into a goblet. The Weasleys try, of course, but they can't fool Dumbledore's security. The champions are announced. Krum is one. The Hogwarts champion is named as Cedric Diggory. But then another piece of paper comes out of the Goblet of Fire. It is Harry's name!

(more to come...................)

Despite protestation from the heads of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, the other schools, Harry is allowed to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. About this time, a little, relatively s***e, unimportant sub-plot involving Hermione starting a group fighting for house-elves' rights begins, and we learn that Dobby is working in the kitchens - it's hardly worth mentioning, really.
While in Hogsmeade, Harry and co meet Sirius Black again - he's been hiding in a cave somewhere as a lovable stray dog. They also find out that Tom Moody's magical eye can see through Invisibility Cloaks, as Harry's wearing it.
The day of the first of three challenges is coming soon - what will it be? The night before, however, Hagrid brings Harry to the school gates, under his Cloak. Hagrid also brings Madame Maxine of Beauxbatons, and Karkaroff of Durmstrang, Krum's school, sneaks along unnoticed. At the gates, Charlie Weasley shows up - with DRAGONS! Realising that Krum and the Beauxbatons champion, Fleur will be told the test by their Heads, Harry tells Cedric Diggory the test as well. So it's not a surprise! How will Harry do? Find out in the next...omnipotent installment of Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire.

I take no responsibility for getting any events in the wrong order or missing anything out.

this is actually a reply to a comment made about mistakes but Auraura. sorry cant spell.

Nitpick one: does any one else think that the spells came out of You Know Whos Wand in not quite the right order?

thanks to P via K in Durham for that one.

well, there is a point later where harry is telling dumbledore what happened, and he relates the spells in the 'correct' order. so there is a slight inconsistency there.... but there must be a point, Rowlings is too careful with details to make that sort of mistake.

at the risk of replying to my own posting, i was reading parts of the book again last night. earlier on in the book, where Harry first sees the adava kedavra curse, it is mentioned that harry had only recently found out about how voldemort had killed his father first and then gone after his mother, and then harry himself. is this a deliberate attempt on the part of JKR to draw attention to the fact that later on this appears not to be the case?

another question, if voldemort's spells are reversed, then surely the curse on Harry has been lifted? ok so death is irreversible, this i accept, but curses aren;t.

Aum

Actually the spells or curses are not reversed; only a "ghosts" of the spells come out of Voldemort's wand.

I also think that the spells did come out in the wrong order. As Harry's father was killed before his mother... So the ghost of his mother should have come out before the one of his father. On the other hand, Harry's father tells him that his mother is right behind him... How would he know? He was already dead when Lily was killed! May be they had a little chat inside of the wand to discuss who should come out of it first.

Furthermore, the curse that killed Lily was aimed at Harry and rebounced upon Voldemort. So all curses were re-played, eventhough the two last ones came out in reverse order...

Apparently that was just an editors error and has now been corrected.
