I have recently finished an article on Computer Racing Simulations. I was wondering if anyone woild be interested in reviewing it, because I believe it does an excellent job of defining the types of Racing Simulation.

Hmm. While it seems like a good basis for an entry you've written, it doesn't seem quite right. There's something missing, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

I'd reccommend splitting it up into sections, preferably using headers and subheaders (GuideML, if possible). Also, what is there to enhance the simulated racing experience - what are the best peripherals for each type of racer?

I apologise on behalf of all the Scouts on not commenting on your entry sooner. Hope I've helped...

It's a good start, but I agree about that feeling of something missing. I think it's the fact that the entry is quite short and does as much to review specific games as it does the genre as a whole.
Try putting in more info about racing sim games, such as a brief history, how realistic they get (or don't get!), which ones are considered to be better (like Geoff Crammond's, perhaps?), and any other interesting bits of info about racing sims.

Also, how about a bit of info regarding racing sims on different platforms?

Hope that helps smiley - smiley

Right... I'm going to have to find some people who are actually able to help with this, because the only platform I have for racing games is the PC, and I have 2 of them: a 486-D2 Ps/1 Consultant and an... let's see now.... AMD-K6 Aptiva.

Hi Zeek,

I agree with the other reviewers - you need to say a bit more, and in particular I think you need to work out *what it is you want to say*.

If you just describe the types of game, I don't think you're going to end up with a very interesting article. To give it that extra edge, you need to really think about what it is that makes one genre appeal to certain users over another: some people like games in which real-life cars handle as realistically as possible, some like fantasy cars, and fantasy courses; some like their cars to be able to crash without damage, others to see a car dented and wrecked.

I also think that, unless you're going to change the title to 'PC racing games', you should consider console racing games such as the Ridge Racer and Gran Turismo series. Another angle you might like to consider is the 'management & design' racing games, such as EA Sports 'F1 Manager'. Or you could have a section on different types of controller (wheel/joystick/mouse/keyboard) and their merits.

So, it's a great subject to have an entry on, but you need an angle, an analysis that will leave the reader feeling like (s)he's learned something. You might also like to enlist the help of other researchers who have payed a wider range of games, to get their views.
