I've discovered that holidays involving my niece and nephews, all under 4, are not particularly relaxing. Often fun though.
Happy Birthday Marv.
I've only seen black squirrels in Canada. Never heard of one in the UK before.

Lady C, I'll have to be on the lookout for those the next time I'm down there.
Black Squirrels to me sounds like an extremely ineffective offshoot of the Black Panthers.
Marv, happy birthday. I wanted to get you something, but I couldn't figure out how to wrap a decrease in Federal control over civil liberties.

Yep, striking is a good word for a black squirrel. Even if you had been told about them it is still quite a strange thing to see if all you had seen was grey ones before. I understand there are very few places to see them in UK. I was told there were some ten miles from where I was but that would be 20 miles round trip on a small wheeled pushbike to somewhere you might not even see them if unlucky on the day so didn't go. I was just very lucky I think.
.
The odd thing is a lot of people I spoke to in countryside spoke highly of animals and birds they get there, however actually per square foot there may actually be more wildlife where I live strangely. It is like the BBC programme the other night that put GPS trackers on 3 pet cats to see where they hunted in the field opposite the housing estate. The reality is the cats didn't even go in the field and each hunted in its own territory on estate which was thought to be have been happening as more wildlife on estate than field. I think the countryside has differant animals like the stoat and gamebirds I saw, but some creatures do better in semi urban areas like mine. I saw just a few magpies in countrside but have around 3 regulary in garden, same with foxes, I have foxes regularly trotting around my garden sometimes even in day but didn't see any on holiday.
I know you aren't supposed to interfer with nature but snaring rabbits isn't nature so I pushed over a rabbit snare. At least with shooting a rabbit is mainly killed quickly but the thought of a rabbit dieing slowly in a snare I left intact was uncomfortable, the hunter will soon reset snare anyway. Not sure if rabit snares are legal anymore though, but think they might be.

Marv, why do you have a hangover today? Shouldn't you be complaining about that tomorrow?

I stopped by X-Wives for a late cocktail. I also killed a pack of smokes. I think that I am going to lay off of those tonight.

Ooh! Ooh! Just remembered!
I'm now Uncle Dreadful (by marriage)... my sister-in-law had a wee baby girl on the 16th, 5 weeks premature by C-section. She only weighed 4lb 6oz! We went to see her yesterday and she's all tiny! Awww! Mrs. D's been feeling a bit broody and I've been told in no uncertain terms that I will be given nappy changing training.

I had a cigarette myslef this week. If experience is any guide, that'll be my nicotine fix for the next 6 months.

Well, somebody has to do it - did you really think females have a less acute sense of smell?

I have my own memories of 'nappy changing' from about 26 years ago. As a very junior member of our military, I certainly couldn't afford the one brand of disposables ... So I bought a couple of cheap flannel sheets and some safety pins.
And then had to train a wife in the folds and ways of applying these simple things.

Hello KTFD, are you new in these here parts or had a name change?

I'm glad I've not been roped in on the changing of nappies. Emptying a bin that has nappies in it is bad enough for me.

I have no problem changing diapers so long as I'm not the only one who does it for a particular child. As long as I know that someone else has to deal with it when I'm not doing it, I can steel myself for the experience.
Oddly, I'm also the one who used to trade chores with co-workers at food service jobs by saying "I'll clean the toiletts, if you'll sweep the floors." I'd rather have a messy, disgusting job that can be finished quickly than a mind numbingly tedious job that never seems to be done... there's always that little bit of dust that escapes the dust pan!
Does this mean I have a mild form of OCD?

Hmm ... black squirrels which are ninjas. Does being black mean it's a mutant? And if so, is it teenage?
