You may have put the Linux bit in cos' i have said that i use it but I do anyway use Suse Linux 6.2 although I have 2 use Win2K for H2G2 because my linux doesn't recognise numbers in the domain. I don't write all the apps but I have written some. I used to be a cut and paste person but Java programs help a lot. I do often write VB scripts for other websites including my school's. The fish I got from www.funkshun.co.uk and The Galaxy app was from www.anfyjava.com. Cut and Paste won't work in GuideML because you need to modify it a bit to state the files are else where ETC.

yes, I did mention Linux becase you said on your page that you use it.
Always good to know where I can go for help.
Thanks for the java links. And I can modify 'cut and paste' like crazy, just cant write java code from scratch. The whole programming thing makes me nuts. Like whenever I try to tweak cgi stuff I end up needing a stiff drink...
*goes back to pounding in lawn signs*
Here, I'm putting in a buncha signs all down the road. We might get some odd stragglers--maybe even some hitchikers--joining the party, but they will fit right in with the h2g2 group...

*dragon looks up, has flower stuck behind ear, streamers draped around neck, hammer and signs in one hand, nails in mouth, glue from making paper chains all over scales, and bill from blimp company in other hand*
thamk foo, avi
*pthooy*
there, that's better. Hard to talk with nails in mouth. I said, Thank you, Abi.
Everybody is working very hard here.
See anything else we need?? [I'll tell the folks with the spotlights to try not to drive onna lawn] Oh, and do you think DNA would like this bill for the blimp???? hmmm...maybe not.
*thinks to self; I'll just tuck it under the sofa cushion till 'later'*
If anybody else wants to help, send 'em on over...could always use more paper chains. [and I didnt really eat ALL the library paste, just a little taste]
And if you see any of those paper fold-out thingies of bells and stuff, we could hang some of 'em with the streamers. And we could use some pinatas, as long as we hang 'em where we don't whack eachother.
*wanders off to hang more streamers*

I consider myself to be quite good at desktop publishing. I guess I could try my hand at designing some party invitations and posters to advertise the party. The more the merryer!
*loads up Microsoft publisher and starts to work. Another excuse to not revise for end of semester exams*

I haven't noticed any lawn signs yet - but the grass is pretty long.
I'll keep my peepers peeled for signs

OK, we have some rather groovy invitations displaying the h2g2 logo rather neatly in the top left corner. They're ready and raring to go through the virtual postal system.

Bruce this is amazing - can I use it for the party.
For the rest of you guys - thanks for all your sterling work. In the meantime....
It is now only three days til the virtual party (yippee!) and many thanks to all
those of you who have helped us prepare but now we need your help. I am about to
build the virtual party page and we want you to build pages that we can link to
it. I am going to build a greenhouse because that is where I am usually found
at parties (don't ask!). Please can you think of a room suitable for the party, build it
and give me the URL and I will advertise it on the Virtual Party Page! We need a
kitchen, a bar, disco....... we leave it up to you!
