I have the unfortunate pleasure of living there. It is a big smelly dump, and is best avoided at all costs.
Tooting, on the other hand is only mildly smelly, and has some good pubs. I have some friends who used to live down Longley Road, and then Salterford Road (near Amen Corner - there's a band named after that).
In the 9 ish years I have been living in London, I started off in Hackney (used to smell, now peachy), reached the heady heights of Clerkenwell, and then slowly slithered downwards through Docklands, Wimbledon and now Streatham.
If anybody would like to offer me a large house in Pimlico (preferably with swimming pool) for less than a pony a month, I'd be very grateful.

Yeah avoid Streatham. My friend who lived there lasted 2 weeks.

What happened? Did he die? Surely Streathams not got *that* bad yet?

I don't know, but I'm curious...
So, are you likely to stay around Parson's Green or go for something completely different?

I have really really had enough! This morning was the last straw, being woken at 2 in the morning by one of my flatmates returning from Ireland, I awoke to find that the cow (excuse the pun) had taken all of my milk and not left enough even for a cup of tea!
To answer the question, I am moving out of London to a village that neighbours a friend's farm. Well I am probably going back to my parents first for a couple of months while the house is bought. I just need to get out of London!!

"When a man is tired of London he has been there for over a minute."
I assume that applies to women too.

You mean "When a man is tired of Women he has been talking to them for over a minute", Irv?
One thing a friend of mine, Andrew Morris, said about London is:
"When you blow your nose in London, you wipe your hands on your shirt and it's black".
Which, I'm sure you'll agree, perfectly sumarises London.

Oh don't get me wrong I love London and as Londoner by birth I think it is a great city. But I want to wake up and hear the birds, I want a dog, I want to wander over fields and ....
yes I have to admit it , I very nearly bought a horse this weekend.

I suppose that's one way of getting your own back on your flatmates... coming home at 2 in the morning and finding a horse in the hallway would be a bit of a shocker!

Is this village on the South or North side of London, and how easy is it to get into London from there?
(Sorry, me being nosy)

I know what you mean about fields et al, Abi.
I went home to my mums this weekend. It is such a novelty to see things in the distance, rather than the furthest you can see being across the road where there are two people arguing and a dog doing a poo. I get hit in the face by a *HUUUGE* dragonfly on saturday - the first one I've seen for ages. And birdsong! I heard birdsong! I can't remember when I heard a bird in London. And my cat was there! And there were bees in the garden. And I want to go home.

Poor Dr Wonky. It is always hellish to get a glimpse of home and then have it wrenched away from you!
Bluebottle, it is on the south side of London and is commutable. It will take roughtly the same amount of time as it does already

I'm being curious as to how you'll go into London - train? Bus? Underground? And can you reveal which county you're in???
(Still nosy)

Driving a trap by the sound of it
I was in a pub the other week and one of the punters was talking about carriage racing and commenting that he used to live near a track - just down the road from where I used to live as well.

*grins*
I can testify to the fact that the green belt is just an excuse for very rich people to pretend they rule the place. That may just be South Bucks though
