Take one egg, place in a pan of boiling water leave for between 3 and 5 minutes. Remove from the water, get rid of the shell and eat
This is the boiled egg.
An alternative is to break the shell and tip the contents into a pan with hot oil on the bottom. This is the fried egg.
Both of the above go very well with toast (lightly burned sliced bread).

Another alternative, is break the shell, and pour the contents into a cup. Add a little salt and pepper, and beat until the yolk is mixed with the white (you can add some milk if you like). Pour into the frying pan, and fry with a little oil.
We called this switched egg where I grew up in Scotland, is that the same as an omlette?

Sounds like an omlette to me (you could add fillings and fold the omlette in half for a different take).
