Took two of my dogs for their 'Good Citizen' tests today. Scamp passed Silver which I was really pleased about! Got Tinker out for his Gold, examiner walked over to check his id tag prior to starting the test and Tinker told her to bugger off out of it (ie barked, then when she didn't go away, bashed her hand with his teeth and barked a whole lot more) which was pretty much an immediate fail.
Ho hum.

My dog would't stand a chance. She does well in public, but it's obvious she's nervous. But at the house, she comes unglued when unfamiliar people come in. She's even nipped a couple of people. Mostly she rushes toward them with a panic bark and her spine hair raised. Then hides in her safe corner until they leave. I call her a yellow healer.

Oh dear, that sounds like Scamp. He's a nipper, it's why he was given to me, so we did loads of work with him so that he wouldn't nip the examiner (she was never at risk). We set it up so he was on her lap, but he was still showing a lot of stress signs. I won't do his Gold with him, maybe in a few years when he's too old to bother and his teeth have fallen out!
Obviously I need to do exactly the same with Tinker!
