Spending my evenings in a hot flush. I thought it might have been the steroids for my nose, then the heat wave, but it's still going on nearly a month later - starts around the same time every evening, between 7 and 8pm. I was getting night sweats too, but they seem to have faded. Broken sleep, also blamed on the steroids (increased thirst leading to night loo visits), is continuing and I can't blame the daylight as it's dark when I wake up!
I have been having floor or almost famine in the *ahem* monthly area all this year.
Should I see the to see if this is the beginning of the end?

Buy yourself a hand held fan and some 400 thread count sheets (they stay nice and cool) and get on with your life. I'm not sure it's worth bothering the medical profession personally, but if you can't get on with your life then maybe.
Actually, buy two fans, because you'll put the first one down and forget where you left it.

There's osteoporosis in the family (Granny, plus Mum and Aunty have low/losing bone mass), so if I'm losing my hormones I want to get checked out.
I thought it had calmed down, but had another hot flush last night, handheld fan shopping later this week!

ah yes dearie
you get to be a crone
and this is the initiation
i recommend reading Terry Pratchetts "Wyrd Sisters"
and then other of his books that feature them.
i recommend going to good natural health sites
and reading up...
and for starters, lay off the sugar because it exacerbates the ups and downs
other stimulants may also do so but sugar is the worst
if you smoke, quit.
after this is over the dearth of hormones makes for less elasticity
and you wrinkle up fast!!
and don't use st johns wort... it may also cause early wrinkling.
also, fact check every thing you read and hear
including what i say
and factcheck in a number of places
remember we are all different
and one woman's chemistry will be differentfromanother's
tho the sugar affects us all the same
good luck

Actually, it might not be the end, as Teenacher has been complaining it's 'too hot downstairs' in the evenings as well...

okay... well the explanation is a bit convoluted so if you will bear with me...
you talk about "the end" of things which could mean in this context the end of fertility, the end of youth and/or, for some people, the end of womanhood.
thusly i made a reference to the five stages of grief
or mourning for that which is lost.
denial. anger. bargaining. depression. acceptance.
not necessarily in that or any order, not sequential, we can experience one to all five stages at the same time.
it was just my little joke...
crones get that way
i'll get me coat
