I'm not really here

Make me a smiley - coffee to go with these mince pies I am having for supper?

I was doing very well with eating sort of properly after a friend told me I wasn't feeding my muscles properly, but it's just too much effort to keep sodding cooking every single day since Wednesday night!

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Here you go smiley - coffeesmiley - run

I don't care much for cooking every day either, and I especially don't care for it when I get home from work, so what I'll often do on Wednesday (which is my Sunday) is cook something that'll last until the following Sunday or Monday so all I have to do when I come home is heat it up, or perhaps boil some spuds and a few vegetables to go with it, as I'm doing this week with the steak and kidney pud I made last Wednesday smiley - drool

I can see how eating the same thing for three of four days might be a problem for teenacher though.

Awww, thanks to you both!

Teenacher probably wouldn't mind. Half of the cooking problem is due to feeding him. I was bad before, but did try to get into it, but he didn't like trying new foods (typical with autistic children) didn't like things I thought he should (also typical) and then was put on an appetite suppressant, so when I did cook, he'd barely eat anything. None of those things are his fault, but 6 years of so of that day in, day out, kind of killed what little interest I already had.

The friend who told me I'm not eating properly is a nutritionist and over xmas is going to give me a free consultation, working towards microwave meals! smiley - biggrin She's a good friend, met through Twitter!

Y'know, meat, spuds and two veg is one of the most nutritious meals there is, and it's not expensive to make with good quality and/or organic ingredients. If the meat is a lean cut and if the vegetables are steamed, it's not hard to make and it's got plenty of vitamins, minerals and protein.

I've noticed a trend recently in TV cooking programmes for a sort of 'back to British basics' trend, with shows like Hairy Bikers Mums Know Best and Best of British amongst others. I welcome this. British cooking has improved in leaps and bounds over the past decade or two, from being one of the worst cuisines to one of the best, but that doesn't mean everything's got to be high falutin'. I'm so tired of doing a websearch for something simple and finding BBC Food recipes that are unnecessarily complicated and OTT.

K.I.S.S.

That's why I like websites like this http://www.retrofoodrecipes.com/ and this http://www.cookitsimply.com/

And mince pies make a fantastic breakfast smiley - biggrin

ooh, I like that Cook it Simply site. I bought the Students cookbooks because it was plain and simple. Every other book is all fancy and posh, and we just want to vary burger/beans/hashbrowns one night of the week. smiley - biggrin
