Apparently it all happens on Monday. I'm not going to sign up for the interim forum, and of course my main concern isn't my entries, or my friends or the site itself, it's my seniority. If it turns out I've lost that, then you may not see me again after the weekend as I have a massive flounce. No-one ever answered when I asked about it, so I've no idea as yet. There's been nothing I've seen posted about how to move over in advance, so we'll see.
If this is the last you see of me, thank your lucky stars... :-p

Is there an idiots guide as to what to do somewhere? I have so little time online and I'd hate to be left out. But I have managed to pop on here today and insult Mu Beta, so even if I'm never seen again, I feel like I've done something productive in the last few days.

I hope Ican say this.... But, as far as Ican tell, from doing testing work on the test version of the new site, the site still has teh information on the date you registered, as its part of the database Iguess (probably associated iwth log in and u number etc), so Ithink*it oughta still have the same registered on date, and of course the same U number too 
the new address will be h2g2.com, though at the moment (as far as I know), this is set to a redirect back to the BBCh2g2; once the new site is all hoovered and dusted and working and stuff, the redirect will be rmeoved an the h2g2.com will just be the website of the new version of the site...
There oughta be some links in the las accouncement thread, giving links to teh new site, the noesis somewhere to go to, tempory site (which includes a announcement thread for any well, anncouncements), the h2g2c2 website oughta also be carriing information and any announcements, and there is another site too... err which I cna't remember off the top of my head 
and, the new site has alabaster 
oh, and goo and stuff as well....

As far as I can see, the info won't be available until the new home is ready. That's the impression I got anyway. I was kind of assuming everything would still be the same - I managed to survive the move to the Beeb intact.

I assume I will still be able to read this journal once we move in case of emergency!

As far as Ican tell, from doing testing on the new site, the site is exactly the same in appearnace and function for the user, even if there is quite a lot of new bits of code behind it all replacing some of the BBC code...
The BBC will close this site, here down, on Monday, first thing, and so it won't be availible; then they'll take a copy of the databases (containing all the journals entrys and conversations etc), and wizz these off into the ether towards Pastey and the other tech guys, who'll load all the database stuff into the test version of the site we've been err, testing... once that is al done, and we've done some quick tests to ensure we've not broken anything, it'll go live, and the h2g2.com will be live once more
