Apparently it is against the law to have a radio or other music playing in the workplace without some stupid licence.

I've picked that up already from some forums I'm on, but the other day I got a letter stating they can't find a record of my licence and I am BREAKING THE LAW. On the other hand, if I'm not playing music to/for my employees I should immediately write in so they can update their records.

I think not.

How weird. Who sent this letter?

I recall that if you play music in a shop or some kind of place where the public come in, you have to get a licence from the Performing Rights Society, but I don't think that applies to a workplace where only employees are present. Leastways, it didn't used to.

It's just wrong to have someone assume you're doing something you shouldn't and have to prove your innocence, just as you have to with the TV licence.

It was something to do with PRS, yes. I wondered if they meant the radio in the van! But usually it's turned off or down too low to listen to because I'm old, and most of the assistants are 20 years younger. They don't want to listen to music that was made before they were born, let alone before *I* was born!

I thought they had a bloody cheek.

I'm pretty certain they can't ask you for a licence to listen to the radio in your own vehicle, no matter who you carry as a passenger!

They're just out for grabbing money.
