Because we're just supposed to have a NAME. Not a CHITCHAT. Shame, as h2g2 was one of the first websites to allow people to have a sort of status in their name. Every other site follows, then the Beeb decide to turn it off!?

But names with numbers and underscores are allowed? What about if I'm called O'Grady?

I understand that some people have numbers in their names, but these tend to be in roman numerals, or those people are horses.

Shame about the lack of chitchat in the nametag. It's not much really, and that wouldn't make a difference whether I registered somewhere or not, but in all those years I grew quite fond of it without realising, until it was forbidden.

Is there a point to that restriction anyway? Where do we campaign to get it back? Shall we write to the Queen?

I think numbers are allowed so that if you have, say, another Mina smiley - yikes wanting to be called Mina on h2g2 she could call herself Minanumber2s so everyone would know it wasn't me. smiley - biggrin
