India. Unless a miracle happens. Can't get the bank to just pay for it without making me fill in forms and nominate accounts and all sorts of stupid stuff so added to the other worries I've just decided it's too much aggravation and have tried to get back on the original course I had booked for and cancelled in favour of India.

Peta Posted Aug 17, 2010
Oh that's sad, I was interested to hear what you made of India, still hope the other one is good.
Shame your bank can't just sort it, but I suppose they have to be reasonably careful nowadays about sending money abroad, just to make sure that it ends up in the right hands.

I was just thinking if my business was involved abroad do I have to link 100s of accounts to mine just to pay bills!?
I haven't heard from the course organisers yet, maybe they will come up with another option. But yes, it would save me the jabs. They would be as late as possible, just in case.

But banks *are* customer focussed! For some value of 'customer', at least.

ok, panic over. Not cancelled. Jabs aren't needed for another 3 months, and i've booked at appt with the to discuss treatment for my needle phobia. And before anyone says 'I have a phobia too I just don't look at the needle' as people I know keep saying, it's got so bad as soon as the nurse comes into the room I start panicking and have walked out just because some paper was rustled.
And I can send a chq to the trainer and he'll send it to India for me.
So this is is - cheque going out and looking into flights now.

oh yeah, and must pick passport photos up so I can send off for that.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Aug 18, 2010
No idea waht to suggest about the needle phobia, Iused to really* hate needles, though probably not as bad as you've described, my ultimate cure was having so many injections when I was very ill that I guess I just learnt that they're not that big a deal, and my overreacting before* having an injection was more worse than the injection itself.... Strange thing is, I really don't feel the injection last time I had one, whereas when I feared it I'd tense up so much I think I felt it more
You do relaise how I paniced when Isaw this thread title don't you? so, for completness; They can't be canceled...

Wow that's great, I do hope you're going to be okay out there if you're not keen on 'abroad' - but go girl, I hope you like it.
When you go, you must dress demurely, cover your legs and arms right down to the ankles and wrists, but it's bizarrely okay to show your tum! If you don't people will think you're a whore and treat you as such, no joke. Western women do get seen as a bit slutty anyway, they've heard of our decadent ways (!), but dressing appropriately really, really helps to save you from a lot of serious hassle from men in public places, and people will just ignore you if you're not dressed in a nice Indian way.
You'll also have to get a visa, it's next to where we worked at Bush House? It takes hours of queueing to get one, getting there early is highly recommended or you'll be there all day.
It's lovely that you're going though, it's a real eye-opener, most people either love it or hate it, and just about everyone is shocked, or should be. I'm a love it though, I'd love to go back. Have a great time.

We got a letter about dress, mentioned if we want to swim in the lake we have to wear tshirt and shorts, nothing skimpy!
I do want to go - it will be the trip of a lifetime and I need to get out of my comfort zone. I reserve the right to panic from time to time.
I've got to load up on biros etc for the schoolchildren in the village, plus if we can teach them something we get another certificate for our portfolio (so much of what we need to learn is teaching other people so it all counts) so I'm going to rummage through all the craft bits and pieces I bought for J and he never used.
And for 2legs, I'd never cancel!

>>'I have a phobia too I just don't look at the needle'>>
In 1992, when I travelled by bus from Sweden to Egypt, I left off having my shots until just a few days before the departure, so was given 3 of them in one go.
As I was lying down on my stomach with my pants pulled down (the stabbed them all into my buttocks) I focused on remembering to breathe so that I wouldn't pass out, thinking dark thoughts, angry with myself for landing myself in that situation.
The rather handsome male nurse (now, isn't that typical?) peered into my face and said 'wow, you really don't like needles, do you?'
So how are your plans proceeding Mina? Or have I missed an update?

I have booked the flights, and will be posting my passport renewal off in the new future. Wrong way round I know... I was going to fly business class, but it was nearly 3 times the price and my 'we haven't got any money' upbringing stopped me booking them. Shame, as I have the money, just couldn't make myself pay for them. Maybe once I've flown out I'll be more inclined to upgrade on the way back!
The has given me some lovely blue tablets which are supposed to help - I have a pharmacist friend who said 'that'll work' so I am highly confident. But I am ignoring them for another month or so.
Also I am sacking my assistant for being no assistance at all, so I have to tell my customers there will be no dog walking in January. And hope they want to come back to me in February.
If not, I may well not build the business back up for dog walking, but concentrate on training and use the time to start looking for premises etc.
I don't know if I would be able to have more than once at once - once that first one has been done I have no idea if I'll be up for another one or not, but I would like to order your goodlooking please.

Which airline are you flying with?
I'm not convinced business class is actually worth it, all you really get is a lounge to sit in while waiting for the flight with free drinks and a shower, and sometimes, slightly more leg room, otherwise it's pretty much the same, and it's only for a few hours anyway.

I'm not really here Posted Sep 10, 2010
A few hours!? They said 8 or 9...
It's the leg room I was interested in, being a leggy lady.
It's KINGFISHER AIRLINES
Cancelled
Peta Posted Sep 10, 2010
Well yes, it's 8 or 9, but that's a lot better than 14 or more!
I've got long legs too and mine fit, my son Alex doesn't fit at *all* but then his legs are longer than a giraffes (and just as thin!) - Alex physically *cannot* get his legs into the space at all.

I'm not really here Posted Sep 10, 2010
I have no idea how much space is allocated - I've only flown easyjet before. I don't fancy that for 9 hours.
Cancelled
Peta Posted Sep 10, 2010
No you'll be aright then, most long haul planes have more room than Easy jet because on a long flight you need a bit more space, there's not loads but enough. They normally have a movie screen on the back of the front seat too nowadays on long haul, even in economy, so they're not too bad.
Having said all that I've never flown Kingfisher, but that's what's normal anyway!
