Just turn your keyboard upside down and thump it on your desk half a dozen times... That's what I usually do.
Do I need to add the warning that you should NOT attempt this if you're using a laptop?

No need to add it - I'm on a laptop so I know. If I hadn't been I'd have washed it under the tap.
