Mol - on the new tablet Posted Dec 26, 2009
Yes, I dozed off during the Gruffalo. But then I drank my first alcohol within ten minutes of waking up, when I opened Osh's curtains and discovered that Santa had forgotten to drink her large glass of Bailey's .

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Dec 26, 2009
I got bladdered last night... totally... by the time I woke up this afternoon, well it was afternoon and with quite a hangover the only real option was to start in on the booze again.

Tch. I haven't touched a drop since. By the time I'd finished needing to drive about today, I'd realised I have to be up for work at 6.30am tomorrow.
If I finish off the wine, I'll feel terrible in the morning, and when your home is being invaded by a really cute, very, very small puppy that early in the morning, you need to make sure you're not going to step on it as you stagger around getting over your hangover.

Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.) Posted Dec 27, 2009
I think it's fair to say I was bladdered on Xmas night. Then, being the weirdo child that she is, Jenny saw fit to wake up stupidly early on Boxing Day morning, instead of Christmas morning like every other child in the world.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Dec 28, 2009
I've been working all throughout Christmas And I probably won't get a day off until January 5th And I can't get drunk anyway because the hangovers are just getting worse the older I get. I mean, I had four shots of whiskey (with an 'e') at our works beano a couple of weeks before Christmas - not even enough to get properly trousered... felt like death warmed up all the next day and didn't fully get over it until I woke up the day after that! And yeah, it just makes me go to sleep too these days.

Tch. Age. You need a young woman to make you feel young again.
I've 'worked' all over xmas too, but it has only been 30 mins a day since xmas day, and now some boarders have come in so I know it can't compare to actual, proper 'going out to work and having to be there xx hours'.
From tomorrow my lunchtime walks start up again, along with another set of cats to feed, but I don't start 'full time' until the 5th. But technically, I win, cos I haven't had any time off at all. :-p

I've sworn off younger women
The Christmas weekend hasn't been as bad at work as I thought it might be. Christmas Day was every bit as busy as I expected but since this is my third year writing the bar schedule and since I came in a little earlier (because I had no choice - the buses were running on a limited schedule) I had plenty of time to get the bar open and get some of the prep done *and* do the weekly bottle count. Gotta do the same thing this coming Friday too but this time I won't get the luxury of a lie-in because our first films will be at the regular 11am instead of the more civilised 3pm on Christmas Day.
Next weekend is going to be uber busy too but maybe not as bad as it could have been. We don't get any new films on Friday (I think) which is always a plus, and some of the films we're showing are getting tired. The early afternoon matinees on Friday will be busy though cos that's when people start waking up after their New Year's Eve celebrations and thinking about breakfast. The weather looks dry though which is also a plus.
I find that if I fret about it even a bit it usually turns out to be pleasantly easy to deal with, but if I get complacent and think it's going to be easy it's often a nightmare

Good luck for Friday then!
NYE is going to be work for me, I pick up a third boarder at midday, and he's a working cocker spaniel, so a real livewire! I also have two toy dogs, one who's not used to other people or dogs and won't leave the other one alone or give it a rest. As he's not used to walking it means I have to walk them in shifts, as he won't be able to manage the three hours I intend to give the cocker spaniel!
Then I'll have to stay up all night cos J will want to stay up until midnight, but the dogs will be (unless the fireworks upset them) so I'll still have to get up at 6, walk the cocker spaniel again (although he goes back home at midday) and then hopefully collapse.
Fred's had his stitches out, but still has to wear his cone for a couple of days, so we're still dodging him jabbing us in the calves.
