I'm not really here

Whatever was driving the flurry of activity on Saturday, and was still hanging around a bit on Sunday has entirely vanished.

At least the Regular Stuff to Do Regularly is all organised in nice neat colourful plastic wallet things so looks sort of pretty. Untill I have to add something to it.

I like that. If it's going to sit there glaring at you like a constant reproach, at least make it look pretty. smiley - biggrin

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Oh you know it makes sense... spending hours and hours designing a nice colourful detailed spider chart depicting all the things you need to do... and then colouring it in all nice and pretty... and then realising your just putting off doing the things smiley - laughsmiley - zen

Ah yes, I should be diary-ing some time to do these jobs. That should take up all the time I have for doing the jobs today. smiley - ta for the smiley - eureka!

One orange folder. One blue folder. And That's It. It's a miracle. Some StD came in yesterday, and it was Done straight away. It can't last.

The two folders are really one job each, in plain English, that's two jobs. They are reasonably biggies, but it seems so much more manageable like this. So manageable that today I opened one, took half of it out and browsed through it, made a phone call, more browsing, bit of shuffling, and then put it all away again. Couldn't have done that this time last week.

Fabulous...

On the plus side, Sic found the Household Diary today (it had slipped behind a radiator). Thank goodness - it lists all the pocket money I owe Nod for this year, and I can't plan what we're going to eat or do the internet shop without it. We nearly didn't have any food last week until I realised I could just use any old piece of paper smiley - rolleyes

Have you not paid your child her pocket money all year? smiley - yikes Mind you, think it's been a few weeks since I've paid J...

For his birthday he's going to start getting a monthly allowance, which should be paid straight from my bank to his once a month, so not only do I not have to think about it, he won't be getting any more cash from me. Ha.

She's had some of it but mostly she said to save it cos she's saving up for an i-phone or something.

We are also moving towards a monthly allowance into bank accounts here, but Sic can't have a cashcard until she's 11 (in 24 days - there's a running countdown on the kitchen whiteboard) so there was no point paying into an account she couldn't access. At least I've already set up the account.

I'm looking forward to not having the fortnightly hassling for cash to buy Mizz ...

I just want him to learn that if he spends all his money on the first weekend he's stuffed the rest of the month as he'll still have to watch me chomping smiley - choc and buying magazines.

I was shocked when working in London that so many of my colleagues were so reliant on payday. Well, obviously we all are, but I mean I'd have a rare night off and would ask couple of people if they'd like to go to the pub and the answer 'haven't got any money until I get paid' stunned me. 30somethings (mostly single, childfree, some still living with family) who hadn't learned to manage their finances? Especially London wages! I had learnt that by the time I was 21.

I want J to go into the workplace already knowing it.

I get a bit hung up about money, because we never had any when I was a kid. My parents still don't really have any, and none of my brothers are working so they haven't either. I want my son to have a good start. smiley - smiley
