GuideML is also used for entries for the Edited Guide

If you have any ideas for an entry to submit to the guide get writing using the 'write an entry'button but please keep in mind these <./>writing-guidelines</.>

If you think your entry qualifies then submit it to <./>Peerreview</.>

<./>thepost</.> Is the weekly paper of this site with cartoons and quizes and <./>askh2g2</.> Will put your questions to the whole community, anything from how to catch a loose budgie or how to say something in Chinese, someone is bound to know!

Not entirely sure to be honest try using the search option, entries are being written all the time see where IT ones are going! you should see a search bar with "search H2G2" somewhere along the top of the page, click "Advanced search" , untick everything but Edited Entries and type in something, then select the entry and when it opens along the top it should list the catogeries and catergories within catgerories the entry is in- failing that the advanced search option also has along the bottom the option to look at entries by name under letters of the alphabet -

Ah very important that, if anyone breaks the <./>houserules</.> by posting something offensive or racist, etc, click that and you can report the message and get it hidden. If someone has this done continuously they can get put on preomoderation which means all their postings get checked before they are shown, and eventually they may get banned. That ok?

i've been looking around and ive noticed that lots of people refer to h2g2 as hootoo. where does that come from?

PS how do i change my nickname?

Its a nickname for h2g2, not sure what the origin is but you will see it used alot ?

Now, to change your nick name look at the list of little shortcut buttons

Frontpage
My Space

etc, you should see one that says PREFERENCES, yes?

Click that, and it will come up with your name in box, change it to what you want it to be and click update details (or whatever it is the button says-- cant remember)

Your login will stay the same, but the way your name is displayed will change to whatever you want it to be- but just try to make sure it isnt the same as someone else you might bump into or it might cause confusion!

Also, one piece of advise- as a new user you might note that H2G2 has different "skins" it can be used in, you can change that also in the MY PREFERENCES section- you might find some easier to understand than others. Classic Goo tends to be a bit slow loading for me, I use Alabaster but some find the colours too harsh and use Brunel. Brunel might be easier for a new user. see if that helps
