Whatever shall I do?
Cheezdanish, Slacker Princess Started conversation Aug 4, 2000
Charlie's sick still. He's now lost about 5 lbs. On him, that's bad. He's 6'2", and usually weighs 170. He looks emaciated and pale, sometimes. I'm worried sick about him. No, seriously, I've got a stomache ache myself now, 'cuz of all this stress! I really Really REALLY need a vacation!
On a slightly lighter note, my friend Jamie is moving back into town next week. The reason being is that it's looking like he's going to break up with his girlfriend of a year. Bummer.
Why does all of this happen at once? I usually have better news to share with everybody, but the last month has just been very hard.
*Shakes head at the pointlessness of it all...*
I need tequila. Real tequila, not the virtual kind...

*hugs back*
Thanks, Joanna! You're so sweet. He's getting better now. It's been tough, but the situation is improving. We're going to Disneyland next week, so that's gonna be nice.
Hey, quick question. Why did you decide to study astrology? I'm thinking of going back to school, and I'm trying to decide what my major should be. I was going to go for philosophy, but I'm gradually changing my mind. And you write so well about it, I thought that maybe you could give me your impression of university life.
Ok. A semi-quick question.

I'm glad to hear he's on the mend... I hope he keeps getting better.
Why'd I decide to study astronomy? Hmmm...
I've always loved seeing how the world works. And then there's the stars... ...unfortunately, there's a lot of maths in there too. I mean lots, of evil horrible maths... (I only hate maths sooo much 'cause that was my mother's uni subject)
& I hate it a lot from time to time, especially Sunday evenings when I'm trying to do the weeks problems... But I loved my first term's astronomy course so much, I decided to swap from physics to physics and astronomy.
A lot of the course is fascinating, a lot is a dull & to some extent badly taught. But the history of physics is full of fascinating, eccentric characters as well. Behind each scientific discovery is a story and a person, or several... ...I find it hard work but I think its going to be worth it. & the people are (for the most part, naturally) great...
Philosophy? I wish I'd studied the philosophy of science module this year, but its too late now... I guess I'll read about it.
But there's lots of philosophy students at uni... and in the first term their favourite thing was to pick an argument about whether or not the chair you were about to sit on was really there... but I heard one of them get a put down by their tutor for that question, which I admit pleased me no end... But I guess if I ever do a second degree, philosophy may well be it. I think Smiley Ben (http://www.h2g2.com/U27280) may study philosophy...
sorry if you were hoping for sommat short... Enjoy Disneyland! I went to Disneyland Paris last year, it was great fun...

Nonono! I like long answers! They give me something to do when I'm bored at work...
Well, I really think that philosophy may be the way I want to go, however I know that any professor who teaches philosophy is going to be diametrically opposed to mine. Mostly 'cuz I'm an objectivist and Libertarian. Those two traits compliment each other quite nicely, and professors hate people like me. 'Cuz they know we're right.
See, I could never do physics 'cuz I'm a total bonehead when I comes to math(s). (Sorry. As an American, "maths" just looks wierd to me...) I'm more of a literature type of gal. Curled up with a good book, and whatnot...
Anyway. See ya later, Joanna. Nice talking to you.

J'au-æmne Posted Aug 16, 2000
Its funny, 'cause I always think that 'math' looks wierd...
But it'll make you better at arguing your side, if you disagree with the professor, and encourage you to research your stand more thoroughly, I'd guess.

Ah, those lovely little differences that make the world go 'round.
As to professors, well, I would argue them down. But then I'd flunk. 'Cuz professors with tenure are notoriously stiff-necked. UCLA isn't exactly a hot-bed of conservativism , if you know what I mean...
How are you, by the bye? I finally have a face to put to a name. Those Scotland pictures are lovely! Demon Drawer is quite the cutie patooie. And so are you!!! Although I pictured the princess of darkness wearing more dark purple...

Its cool, isn't it, when you get to see who you've been talking to...
My nails are very often dark purple, if that'll do? I wear a lot of black, too... But today I'm being rebellious from my 'dark' image and going for light blue & grey.
I was very pleased with those pictures, 'specially that one of DD... I had so much fun messing around with cropping them in the photoeditor

You're a hoot, Joanna! Yes, that one picture of DD was rather funny.
Oh! I just realized who it is that DD reminds me of! He looks like a bad guy from a James Bond movie. He's got that "pointy" thing going on...
Yes, purple nail polish will do, but the light blue has got to go! No self respecting princess of darkness wears pastels. Unless they're doing an undercover thing... Are you doing an undercover thing?
Whatever shall I do?
J'au-æmne Posted Aug 16, 2000
Well its my old blue top from before I was Princess of Darknes... But yep. I'm doing an undercover thing. Mmm. I'm trying to infiltrate the day time... thats why I don't see that a Dark Princess has to stay up late in the (unlikely) event she doesn't want to. People at night are already in the dark - hopefully I can bring darkness to daytime!! Or maybe not...
Bad guy from a bond movie, huh? I think DD need to be told... hehehe
Whatever shall I do?
Cheezdanish, Slacker Princess Posted Aug 16, 2000
Yeah, he should be playing the bad guy, not Bond. Oo, maybe, he can be a good Bond and get mutated into a bad Bond. That'd be cool.
"Bringing darkness into the daytime." I love it. I'll be Cheezdanish, slacker princess, and you be the princess of darkness and we'll be a team to be reckoned with.

Working hard? Or hardly working?
Yeah, I like the sound of that...
Hey, you're up awfully late for a school night, young lady...

Demon Drawer Posted Aug 16, 2000
So I'm a Bond baddie am I.
*DD decides he's going to have to post a pick of him before his hair loss somewhere*

I might dig out one of my really cute childhood ones.

Cheezdanish, Slacker Princess Posted Aug 16, 2000
Awwww. That'd be really cool. Hey, DD, no offence intended. You just look pointy. I kinda pictured you as a very round-faced bloke with glasses. But you're quite the handsome man. Too bad I'm taken and you're not, um, available. I've seen you tango. I'm impressed.
Joanna: Not a school night? Is there no school on Thursday across the pond?
Oh, this'll prob'ly be my last post for the day. I'm off to dinner with Charlie. We're going for some curry and samosas. Yum...

Demon Drawer Posted Aug 16, 2000
Right that rules out the photos until I was 11 then, the chubby faced cherub ones.
But nah, glad I surprised you, one advantage of being a former track athelete I suppose I've kept the physique if not the pace.
