Well, at this point, I'm just writing to get rid of the first journal entry, 'cuz it's cluttering up my page. Don't like. Need be gone. Cheezdanish don't need no stinkin' pronouns...
Had a very intersting revelation this weekend. I've decided to go back to school, and get my degree in philosophy. Now, the tricky part. Convincing UCLA to take on a student who's never taken an SAT exam, dropped out of high school halfway through her junior year, and has middle of the road grades. I wonder if they'll give me a scholarship?
Now, for those of you who may think that being a high school dropout who wants to get a dregree in philosophy is contradicting herself, hear me out. The decision for me to leave high school was not one that was based on laziness or poor academic performance, but on the fact that my education was complete as far as I was concerned. I had already learned in my private Jr. high what they were teaching in my public high school. Also, I was disgusted with the tone of the classes, which seemed designed to turn out as many neurotics as possible. I felt that my talents were better suited to the workplace, where I could not only be paid for my time, but would also be contributing to my education by learning real skills, designed to teach me how to be productive and self-reliant.
So, I've decided to keep my acting carreer private for now, (just do community theatre for now, etc. instead of working to "break into" the Hollywood thing...) and study to get a degree in a subject that will challenge me intellectually and socially, as I know my views will be contriversial, and won't make me too many friends.
But it feels good, and I'm looking forward to starting.

booo
Now I know where your home page is.
And I am very pleased to hear you are deciding to forward your post secondary education. Its a positive step that I always feel is well worth the effort (even though I only have two years in). I wish you luck because I know its a decision that I never seem to have the time for since I've entered the work force.
Anyway only popped by to reiterate that the arguments are not a personal attack. I'm simply practising parliamentary style arguments where you spin previous statements back while only addressing portions of the question and not necessarily the actual question posed in order to put forward your own message.
As a note regarding acting have you Fringed before?

Sorry, didn't see your post till just now... (when did you sneak in?) I'm looking forward to going back to school, and my fiancee may just join me. Looking forward to it.
Sorry for attacking you over at the Truth forum. I really wasn't attacking you, I was just feeling frustrated at you because you were arguing in the "Parlimentary style" (I like that description by the way ) and felt like you weren't really answering me and my arguments, but just ignoring me. I won't do that again.
As for Fringing... never heard of it

Hit the link to my site if you have some time to surf.
I'll be putting up some Fringe Links and I think it should describe the event properly.

Isn't it amazing how people who are being so adversarial in one area of H2G2 can be so polite and friendly in another?
On the point of the uselessness of public school, I agree, especially in California. In fact, I've even found large portions of secondary education to be equally pointless. It makes me wonder why people put any value on a college degree at all... I can do so much better studying on my own. I've gained a certain amount of respect for my writings on religion and politics, but the only pedigreed background on any of this stuff I can offer is the Western Civilization course I took by correspondence, for which I received an incomplete. Then there's the English Composition class I took that was only designed to help you figure out how YOU write (I don't understand how anyone could make it so far without already having established a process, but maybe I'm just weird), or the Speech class where I learned nothing, and the College Algebra class which has nothing to do with my career goals, but was deemed vital anyway, or...
That's not to say that I haven't been the happy and grateful recipient of some golden nuggets of post-graduation instruction, only that none of it has been received from any college. And yet, people with degrees are deemed to be so superior to plebian folk like you and I. I pissed off an old girlfriend (a college graduate) once by announcing that a college degree doesn't make you smarter, just better educated. We all know that the most useless sector of the population is college educated... the managerial class.

Hey, you! Long time no see. How's the IE doing? (Just a thought, if it's the inland EMPIRE, then who's the emperor?)
Anyway, yes, the secondary education system is a joke. I even have put into the words of, "I'm going to go back to school so I can have a piece of paper that tells me I can think."
To rub salt on the wound, I'm going to attend Pierce College. Are you familiar with that one? The cow college of the San Fernando valley?
Anyway. Hi again. Stay out of LA for the next four days. Those damn Democretins are here. See ya later.

I'll be the emperor before too much longer...
I'm not familiar with Pierce, but I am sure it is an equivalent to Chaffey, the piss-poor community college I am using to complete my MCSE training. I've found my post-grad IT studies to be actually useful, but this is the first time I've utilized a college... but at least if I waste my money, it is only at the rate of $10 per unit.
Make sure you keep them in LA... create random accidents on all outbound freeways, if you have to.

I don't need to, they've shut down all the freeways around the Staples Center for three miles. And they've cut down all the trees, removed all the blue post boxes, and shut down every store.
So they've managed to piss off the environmentalists, the Latinos, ('cuz they all live in the area and hae no way to mail anything for the next week.) and the small businesses that they claim to care so much about.
Ha.

Don't forget the animal rights people, and the entire Inland Empire. Check out my journal entry on George Fideaux for details on that particular story.

I will remain silent on the political issue.
I agree whole heatedly on the post secondary issue. However there are certain benefits as well. We have different system up here.
College is essentially a trade school which teaches in a manner more similar to primary schools with low teacher to student ratio and very hands on practices. University is nebulous in scope and deals more with critical thought pattern and higher learning.
Both are good for a variety of reasons but they are very different.
University if a generalization can be made is rather elitist.
The girlfriend I indicated this to saw first hand how six years of hands on communication experience and a college diploma meant that I was simply not in competition for a lot of entry level positions with out a degree.
She didn't see it that way. She is now an ex.
I'll remain silent on the democrat convention down there.
Quietly humming my solidarity forever song.
I'm always friendly in my posts, I'm just less adversarial in some than others. .
Key: Complain about this post
