Hi, I'm from Sandown on the Island, although I did live in Cowes until I was 6 months old - so I don't really remember it much. (I'm guessing you're from the Cowes area from your comment on the Anchor).
So, were you born on the Island, or if not, how long have you been there?

WELL AS YOU CAN IMAGINE I AM FROM COWES IN FACT I OWN A HOUSE THERE BUT I WAS BORN IN SOUTHAMPTON BUT MOVED TO COWES WHEN I WAS 2 MONTHS OLD SO I REGARD MYSELF AS AN ISLANDER.
IM 22 AND I ONLY LIVE IN ENGLAND FOR ABOUT 5/6 MONTHS A YEAR DUE TOO THE FACT THAT I WORK ON SHIPS AND OFFSHORE OIL INSTALLATIONS, AT PRESENT I WORK IN WEST AFRICA A SMALL PLACE CALLED EQUATORIAL GUINEE (ALSO KNOWN AS THE ARMPTI OF AFRICA FOR THE OBVIOUS REASONS)

So it seems that, apart from the ships and oil installations bit, we've been around in the same places more or less. So, what do you think of the Island? Personally I'm proud of it, although a lot of the other people I know considered it to be too slow and prefered a city life.
Trouble is, most cities seem too identical. At least the Island has it's own community identity.

By the way, I saw you mention Sandown Pier earlier - you can read more about it here: http://www.h2g2.com/F48874?thread=93914
