It seems our old conversation has disappeared, but maybe it will reappear after a bit? I don't like the new rules, but I guess some of them are necessary due to the high profile of the BBC.
They still seem a little bit overboard.

Hello It's a shame about the photo though. I've lost some of my threads because I do tend to put a lot of external links in. But then I can undertstand the reasoning behind not allowing this. I'll just have to restrain myself.

You have been spared. I got so hot under the collar about not being able to post URLs that I typed up a rant then I accidentally quit my browser before posting the message. It felt good to get it out of my system though. Now I'll have to compose a new message and post it in the feedback forum instead of here.
I think your forum messages eventually come back, but the links will disappear or just won't work. And there are probably ways of getting around it, like this:

The live kelp cam sound fun.
Here: have an ant cam inside the Natural History museum.

Aha! It's there, but for how long?
(too tired to wait and see, but wonders if moderators only work in the day time?)

It seems to last at least 15 minutes. Let's give the moderator a run for his or her money, shall we?
/* Waves to moderator */
Here is the link to the kelp cam using the common rot-13 code supported by many e-mail programs:

I think each letter is just replaced by the 13th letter in the alphabet that follows. Simple!
And here is another, just for fun:

I hope they act quickly. I wouldn't want any children reading this to be exposed to offensive seaweed.
My rant is now posted on the house rules page.

:-) I see that the antcam has been removed too. Offensive leaf cutters. Thanks for the link sent in a less objectional way :-) I'll go and read your rant now. However, can I do this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F1663?thread=100431 Seems so. Tell me how that thread gets past the moderator then! Very funny :-) ><>

Wow. That wasn't my post. Was it yours?
I'm delighted to see they took out the second rot-13 url, which was (unscrambled)
http://this.is.not.a.url.at.all
and just in case that gets removed, in plain English it said "this is not a url at all."
I wonder what the previous message said.

I am the guilty party!
All I did was post a internal link to an h2g2 thread!
Admittedly one that was a bit cheeky. I emailed it to you instead.
(My fins have been slapped. Won't do it again - promise)

Mind you, that can't be bad can it! 2 mature people having a nice chat which gets censored within 24 hours of the site being back.

I am having a terrible day, computer-wise. I tried posting here three times, and each time my computer crashed. Now, at home I cannot send e-mail. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this computer doesn't crash too.
Thanks for the picture link. I used it, and it does sort of look like Zeppo (which is what he e-mail says if it ever goes through).
Now what will you do to be censored next?
Knock, Knock
coelacanth Posted Mar 15, 2001
Now that would be telling! I'm very restrained on h2g2 and always have been.
What makes me wonder is why I was censored in the first place. The H2IQ thread has internal links, so that's OK. The thread I linked to is still there in all it's glory. Someone else is allowed to link to it in their own journal, which has a potentially higher hit rate than our little natter.
No e from you yet but I'm glad you liked Zeppo's picture. It came from the extensive pictures at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/C809
(waiting to see what happens to this posting)

I squashed the e-mail after listening to my computer warn me that it had not gone through every time it tried (every 10 minutes) for a couple of hours. I hope they've fixed the problem, but Ihaven't tried to send anything again yet tonight.
I think our moderator
/* waves */
simply made a mistake. Have you left a message for Peta?
Now watch this:
Zeppo, heel. Sit. Stay.
He's getting quite good. And all this after only 2 lessons!

I'm just looking over the pictures. Some are quite odd, like the lion, tiger, and Reverend Stiffkey in a cage. Some are useful though.
Did you notice that our squacket made a spelling mistake too?
Knock, Knock
coelacanth Posted Mar 16, 2001
I had noticed the mistake, perhaps it's a way to identify which moderator has read the posting? I thought about complaing to Peta, but I'm not sure whether it's worth it really. "squacket" is the name that's been setled on for them?
Zeppo's traning is very impressive.
*pats Zeppo on the head*
No more chewing cables on a Friday then?

That remains to be seen. I can't bring him to the office today because I have some afternoon meetings And he seems to have entered this week what would be if he were human his rebellious teenage years - more energy than he or I know what to do with, clumsiness, argumentative and no consideration for the long-term outcome of his actions. For a dog this expresses itself as deciding that 1 AM is play time or in attempts to steal the same forbidden object 8 times in a row. Once that object was my brother's car key.
Key: Complain about this post
