John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

As a third part of the Goon Show holy trinity, we should forgive Harry anything.

What is Spike Millington (the world famous spelling mistake (his own words)) up to now?
Germany is a bit off the beaten track as far as civilization is concerned!

That's worth looking into. Spike Milligan was always my favourite. Who could forget his song, "I-I-I-I-I-I-m walking backwaaaaaards for chriiiiist-mas, across the I-I-I-I-rish sea." Peter Sellers, of course, sadly is no more.

I've not seen or heard of him for ages. What's he up to?

Spike Milligan now lives in a large house which he doesn't like. He's still writing books, I think. The other day he was on a TV programme called Room 101, in which guests get to choose those things in life they hate and try and persuade the host, Paul Merton, to hate them too. Spike chose to nominate Chris Evans, muzak, Portsmouth, parties, football and his house.

Hooray for Spike. I wish I'd seen it! smiley - smiley

I had heard (some time ago) that he was very ill. In fact, now that I think of it, I'd heard that he'd had himself committed. It's good to hear that he is still active; and, especially, that he is writing. I don't think anyone else can match his off-kilter view of the world.

Deek

He was in a stage show some years back called Oblimov, which was later retitled Son of Oblimov.( the original by Chekov I think ??)I went to see it and I don't think I've ever seen anything funnier. It was indescribable and ended up bearing almost no relationship to the original. He carried on doing his own thing all through the performance leaving the other actors twiddling their thumbs or in hysterics on the sidelines. I saw it twice and by all accounts it was never the same from one night to the next. One of a kind I think.

Fluke

Spike's still writing books as well, I think. It wasn't him that was ill, it was Harry Secombe; he had a stroke, but he's recovered now.
Spike did have a nervous breakdown, more than once, I think.
