The world of spray cheese

As a clasically trained chef, I wonder at the amount of highly processed "Food Products" consumed in the world...especially in the US. Now, I'm not anti-American. I have ketchup flowing through my veins. I bow before the "Golden Arches" from time to time and will some day drop dead from an overdose of Doritos and rootbeer, but when did we decide that the word cheese can apply both to a fine brie and to a foamy, yellow goo that shoots from a can? When did we decide that cutting carrots and washing lettuce to make a salad was to difficult therefor requiring us to buy prefabricated salads for a heafty $5 a bag- for iceburg and a few root shavings? As for diet soda, I am just waiting for the day we all realize artificial sweetners are the cause of all evil in the world. Do you remember the rats? Ok, so I admit that injecting an animal with anything that often would kill it, but wouldn't you rather have REAL soda anyway? It's unhealthy enough as is. My only point is that there is a generation comming up that doesn't remeber a time without lunchables, when classic homecooking was something other than Hambergerhelper. Shouldn't recipies come from grandparents not talking gloves? Or maybe it's just me?
