Hey Jeff! Thanks for the welcome message. I wasn't sure if it got through or not. I'll definately take a look at the NW region group when I get a chance. I like what you've done with your personal space. Anytime you've got a chance, I'd sure appreciate some advice on how I can get my personal area looking like that. I'll see you around.

Err, sorry for the lateness of my reply. I'm not accustomed to frequently checking messages on my personal space (last message left there was in 2003, I think). smiley - sorry

Anyways, to access some of the neater features present on a lot of the user pages (and Guide Entries, as well), you'll need to use GuideML, the markup language used here at h2g2. You can find out more about using GuideML over at the <./>GuideML-Clinic</.>. To use GuideML in an entry, you first need to make sure that you've selected "GuideML" and not "Plain Text" when you edit the entry.

For examples, here's a few of the more frequently used GuideML tags:

smiley - starTo make headers and subheaders:

Put header text here

Put subheader title here

smiley - starTo link to an entry here at h2g2:

Link text here where ?????? is the entry number, usually listed on the entry, as well as at the end of the URL in your browser's 'location' bar. Also, using will automagically use the article's name as the linked text.

smiley - starSimilarly, you can link to someone else's personal space using:

Person's name where ?????? is the person's user number; will use the person's current user name for the linked text.

smiley - starYou can find some pictures to add to your space and the proper GuideML at the <./>GuideML-PictureLibrary</.>. Unfortunately, I don't think you can use these pictures in Guide Entries.

Also, if you see something neat on someone's personal space, you can see the GuideML they used by going to

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/TestUserPage??????

again, where ?????? is their user number. Similarly, the GuideML for an article can be accessed by going to

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/Test??????

using the article number in place of the ?'s.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Hope you're enjoying h2g2. smiley - ok

smiley - geek
