My second favourite football funny this week is an interview on the Everton website with alleged winger Andy van der Meyde about his umpteenth return to fitness. The video interview is preceded by an advert for award winning Elbow album..... The Seldom Seen Kid.

I am actually in the small subset of everton fans to have seen Shandy van der Meyde score. He scored one and set up two in the Wigan Reserves-Everton Reserves match at Robin Park last season. And I tell you, the three hundred people who turned up to a leisure centre on a retail park to watch it will never forget. Of course, Robin park saw a bigger crowd when the school my sister taught at in leigh got to the all-Wigan primary school athletics final, but still, he's always been one for the miniscule stage. Put him in front of 10,000 in the Derby in Warrington he's lost, but put him out against Newcastle in front of me, four stewards and a stretcher bearer in Widnes, and he'll run the show. I wonder if he'll be fit for the mini-derby next week? He wasn't for the home game with Boro on Tuesday.
