Aware that Stephen Frail is officially "assistant first team coach" at Hearts, but seems to do all the shouting when they're on Setanta, I thought, ahead of my visit to Tynecastle next week, I’d try and find out who the actual manager is these days as I'd lost track (it is a matter that has been in flux since Graham "She told me she was 16, honest guv" Rix was in charge)
So, I went on their website to have a look.
And this is what I found:
Anatoly Korobochka: Sport Director
Eduard Malofeev: Advisor on Sports Matters to the Board
Stephen Frail: Assistant Coach
Tom Ritchie: Fitness Coach
Darren Murray: Under 19s Coach
Andrew Murray: Sports Scientist
Davie Henderson: Head Physiotherapist
Now, I can't see "manager", "first team manager" "first team coach" or "head coach" anywhere on that list. So who picks the team? Who exactly is Stephen Frail assisting? Is the reason he doesn't want the Dunfermline job that he is actually essentially the manager at Hearts, rather than a coach. Or does Malofeev's title mean he tells Romanov who to tell Frail to pick? Or Does Korobochka direct Frail on what to do, sport wise. And why "sport" director and advisor, rather than "football"- are they planning to branch out?

I think Frail is basically the first team coach, although who knows really? I'd imagine there's at least *some* pressure from upstairs on who to pick, but whether that comes directly from Romanov, or via one of the listed folk there, I don't know. It's a shambles.

They seem to pick a different keeper every game- there's BAsso, Banks, and didn't they pick a Lithuanian the other day against Rangers (I mean, i know they did, but was one of them in goal?)

Although I believe Anatoly Korobochka is the closest to what most British teams would call a manager. Although I may have lost out on something in Translation

It seems Hearts themselves have got fed up of not being able to work out who's in charge.
