VSC: I think we've got a couple of Italians in town

I can hear about, probably, half a dozen cars driving around town tooting their horns.
And just now a few fireworks have gone off in the distance.

I'd like to point out I was backing Italy to win from the start and for the first time in my life I can hold my head up high and say...
I was right.
Feels good... Anyway, how stupid is Zidane? That is possibly the most moronic thing I've seen on a football pitch.

Why? What did he do?

I live in a flat above an Italian restaurant. I'm glad I'm two floors up - I think there's a bit of a party going on down there!
And yes, what was Zidane thinking? At least Rooney had the excuse of being young and stupid.

Young and stupid... and somewhat off-balance, and being fouled beforehand. But apart from that, essentially the same.
I guess Materazzi must have said something disgusting about Zidane's family or race, that's the only explanation. Still doesn't excuse what he did in any way, and it's a shame because he had a pretty good game up until that point.

The thing is, Materazzi looked really calm and composed, so it's not like he was in Zidane's face yelling abuse, and Zidane had already walked away before he turned back and lunged!
It just seemed to be a totally random act ('seemed' being the operative word).

What got me about the Zidane incident was how completely pointless an attack it was. I can't think of a poorer way of hurting someone than running headlong at their sternum. If he was going to get himself sent off for violent play, he might at least have done something that was likely to hurt the guy

Bet they are not so happy tonight! Football in Italy is just so corrupt! And the quality of the football is not what it used to be either!

I'm disappointed they were only relegated to Serie B. Think of the revenue for the smaller clubs if the Big Three were put down to the regional leagues.
I think we should do it in this country as a matter of course.

It'd certainly mix things up a bit. Juve are going to have to work hard just to stay up seeing as everyone's got a ten game head start on them.
