i am so frustrated because i decided to log off of h2g2 just to see what would happen and for some reason when i registered again my personal space was not the right one anymore!!!!!!!
WHY??????????

I'm not an editor, or even a technical person, but I think this will be easier to solve if you tell us who you are. Am I speaking to krn, or somebody else who's stuck with krn's nickname? Did you already have a nickname? Could you find your regular space using the search engine?

It happened to me too! Not only am I responding to Q*bert's reply, I am Q*bert.
This is really annoying I'll go try and talk to the editors about this.

Do not worry. One gets lost easily in the computer maze. It is fun starting all over again, getting a feeling of deja vu and feeling how an experienced beginner feels-reliving the experience as it were.

This is Q*bert speaking. I just wanted to say that I managed to get the computer to recognise me again, and that yes, it really was me who made that posting earlier. Try logging in again, (You've probably already done this, but for future reference...) and the computer may recognise you of its own accord. Either way, you might want to report this to the bug report page (click on feedback.)

The problem with logging off, is that when you go to log in again, it gives you the option to *register* first. This seems to be the thing to do, but it is actually inviting you, as a brand new visitor to the site, to register for the first time.
Underneath this box, is an option for *existing users* to log in.
This is the box/option to choose.
I will suggest this to the editors, that the first box be labelled with *FIRST TIME HERE*??? Or something like that.
Believe me, this is an easy error to make!
It's not a bug as such, more human error.

If you want answers to questions about h2g2, then click on the Feedback button and follow the instructions - this forum is not monitored by the h2g2 support team or the Gurus, so questions about h2g2 get missed if they're posted here.

By the way, if you type in an existing account email into the Register section, it spots that you're not a new user and asks you for your password, and logs you in. However, if you mistype your email address, or use a different one to your actual account, then you will end up with a new account, which is possibly what has happened here.
