How do I solve difficulty with iWork Pages?

The color picker that looks like a color wheel, and has options for RGB sliders, etc., is missing from Pages. When I click the color wheel icon, I get a different tool that lists Apple, Developer, ProKitClassic, ProKitGrey, Crayons, and Websafe Colors.
The usual Mac OS X color picker is still in the text editor.
How can I get Pages to play nicely with the Mac OS X color picker?

My version of Pages has got it. Snow Leopard, Pages '09. But it has also worked earlier OS's and Pages'ses. What version are you using?

I've got Tiger, and it's the same story with both Pages '06 and the trial Pages '09 I just downloaded.

That's got me baffled. I'll put a link to this thread in the h2g2 mac users thing. That might attract some people who Know Stuff.

I must say though that I'm not impressed by Pages '09, and I certainly won't be buying a copy. Things like opening and saving documents are noticably slower than '08, and one absolute killer: if you put a table in a document, even a very small table, scrolling through the doc becomes very jerky. The main things that I use it for almost always require tables, so it's back to '08 for me.

No sign of any experts. My only suggestions would be to trash the Pages preferences file in your home folder/Library/Preferences, and to run Permissions Repair in Disk Utility. No idea whether that will do any good, but it can't do any harm. As I recall, permissions repair in Tiger can take quite a while (half an hour or so).

Sounds like a list of colour charts, trying clicking the Apple one, but this is just a guess and I take no responsibility if Steve Jobs appears on screen and tries to kill you

The Apple option brings up the original 10 colors from the old days. I was kind of hoping for something a little more chocolately colored.
