A Conversation for How do I...?

I had an account on h2g2 in 2003, for which I know the nickname (it doesn't seem to be a valid login name now, if ever) and researcher ID, and my old homepage is still here.

I don't recall the login name I originally used - all the likely ones I've tried have failed, but I know what the password will be, and the email address could be one of several (all still active), so I can receive emails addressed to the old account email address. However, I don't appear to have any record of the original join-up emails from h2g2.

Given this information, is there any way I can get to log back into this old account?

You would need to provide the account number as well as those other details to the h2g2 staff. Really old accounts can no longer be updated and re-activated though (after a series of changes to the registration process).

2 June, 2006: Group Email Addresses

We've always tried to encourage users to direct any queries to the h2g2 central email addresses, but from today we are no longer able to reply to emails sent to our personal email addresses.

Therefore, all emails should be addressed to one of the general addresses:

h2g2.Feedback
h2g2.Support
h2g2.Editorial
...all of which have the suffix AT bbc DOT co DOT uk.

This not only means that messages can be seen by all staff (which means they will always be seen as soon as possible) but also that our personal inboxes are not open to spamming campaigns.

We thank you for your co-operation.

OK - I don't have the account number (unless it is the same as the Researcher number?).

I'll email the support team.

Thanks for your help smiley - smiley

Yes, the Researcher or U-number is the thing.
