That says it all, I think I need a new passtime; no, not knitting, something different, not too energetic

Too energetic, I am thinking more along the lines of, weeving, but not that cause its boaring, model making? too geekish, but something along those lines, and, amature dramatics, I do that most weekends in the pub...

Unicycling; I like the sound of that, but I'm not sure if the flat below here will like sound of me falling off; my balance isn't that good after I have been to the pub/offy/drinks cabinat.. but that s the sort of thing I'm after; unicycling. (wonder where you can get them from).

Have you thought ablout a re-enactment society as then you could weave etc in period costume. Socialising at the local pub is also high on the agenda.

learn a musical instrument, doesn't matter what, then you can impress your friends

Nice idea with the musical instrument, I already play the guitar, I did play the flute for a few months years back, I could always take that up again, perhaps. I like the sound of going to the pu in period costume; knights in shiny armour, enter the hourse and hound or pig and poke? "we are no longer the knights that say ouch, when hit?", I'me not too sure of teh availibility of such groups around the place, but me with a nice double headed batwing axe, or broad sword, Gurrrrr.. Or maybe some of those nice roman? leather type skirt things? Its worth thinking about, which is something I appear to be doing too much at moment. When things qiten down in the RealWorld, I shall have to investigate some of these possibilities.

I started to teach myself the guitar a few years ago but then bought a computer so don't play as I used to, I should pratice more I'd love to be able to play well

Yeah, its really important to play regularly. I've been playing guitar for about 5-7 years, but I went a good few months, nearly half a year towards the middle of that time where I didn't play at all, and I vertually had to teach myself all over again. But now, even with studying, and drinking, and computing, I get at least 45 minutes to an hour or more every day, which does wonders for my playing. In the last year, I've stated being able to play all that "really tricky" sounding stuff, and its only through practice, and if I was to stop practising now for any length of time, I would probably loss it all again, so I keep playing..

Seagull's Lost Horizon

I first started around 4 years ago, and I made sure at least half hour a night, this was when i didn't have a job, I tend to be on and off at it it quite scary to find stuff I could play before I can't do so well now, so I have to keep at it

I found that I had lost a lot, but it came back pretty quick, but not all of it, and I was doing several hours a day at first when I re-started playing again.

well I've never spent that long playing in one day, perhaps I should, one of the things that put me off is when trying something new and not getting a good sound but pratice makes perfect

Well, I'me not saying I am any good, or an expert or anything; the secret is to play something simple, so you get a bit of immediate gratification, and do a bit of something more tricky and testing..

I've basicaly tried a few bits and peices a bit of fingerpicking, getting my fingers used to playing in different places and such so when I do play its a mixture of thinggs I like and stuff i should get better at and a new chord or something, its just getting my fingers in the right place easily and getting a clear sound,

but the thing is that its something I've always wanted to do and admired people who can, ans also its something I've achived

Guitar is fun... I started teaching myself a while back, and come back to it every now and then. Learning a song (or piece of song) that people can recognize is always pretty nifty.

as for other hobbies, maybe try sketching or origami... great ways to pass the time, and both can be done w/ the square drink napkins found in bars, and can be good conversation starters/topics.
