why does H2G2 appear differently when you use netscape or IE4???
I mean, that if you registered using netscape then for some reason use IE4 to surf then you can't reply to forums, or edit your page, and the silly page is white instead of blue, like it is when everything goes walkies for a while, when it gets bored of staying in just one place all the time.
hmm, anyway.

The answer is in the cookies. If you registered using Netscape then the cookie on your system that registered your registration (if you get my drift) is available only to Netscape and not to IE. So when you use IE, it looks for a cookie and finds .... nothing. Bare cookie cupboard.
You can get round this by going to the front page of h2g2, selecting the "I have already registered" link and typing in the email address you used when you originally registered. If you choose "remember me on this computer" a new IE-flavoured cookie will be created.
The appearance is due to the skins. There are two skins to choose from, Alabaster (white) and Classic Goo (blue). Alabaster is the default for new registrations. You can change your skin preference by editing the Preferences (alabaster) or My Details (goo).
I hope this helps.

To compund my problems I was offered a part time job yesterday teaching web page design to an evening class. That starts TOMORROW!!! (Actually it started last week but they lied to the class saying that the lecturer was out of petrol).

Well, its just a little white line so it won't hurt no-one, but students can't afford to run motor vehicles anyways, but the buses weren't running, and you didn't need to go to the shop coz you still had enough vodka in the fridge for the next week etc.
Oh the trials of student life huh?
Hm, i have a cool outdoor thingy at Malvern hills outdoor centre at the weekend, going with school, but just doing fun things like climbing, fake parachute jumps, and the like, cool? don't you think, maybe not, but then its not everyones thing.

I do have a car -- the infamous Antmobile. And she does have petrol in her.
I have no vodka in the fridge.
Have fun at the weekend! I did something similar in the Brecon Beacons.

I will most certainly have fun at the weekend, but i still have the rest of the school week to go through first
but should be fun after that
well i hope you find that students dream of a free bar somewhere around your street corner, you never know, there might be some mad millionares out there somewhere just dying to give the likes of you and your friends some free spirits.
