A Conversation for Kingston upon Hull
Withernsea - Hull Railway Line
Getsome Started conversation Dec 24, 1999
I have lived in Withernsea for 29 years and have seen alot of changes in the area. Hull to me is just a place of work, travelling in each morning by car and fighting the endless battle of traffic on an evening to return home. I was born after the old railway which linked us to this big city. I often here my parents talking of how they first met and how if the train hadn't been there they may have not. Why did they close the line down? It could have made a big difference as to how my home town has developed. The locals in my village could spend a lot more evenings in Hull instead of being forced to accept the small town pubs....... And anyone visiting us from afar for a day, has a 9.27pm dead line if travelling by bus!!
If anyone else has views on this I would like to hear them.
