I just thought I'd mention that by going down through the user pages by 9 each time (as described in my last journal entry) I've gone all the way down to research 104043... and only about five of them had anything on their pages! C'mon, people, edit those pages! I did mine as soon as I joined up!

What about all us poor researchers who cannot rely on this wonderful world of mathematics for a random hit to their homepages?
Are you going to restart later with different modulus numbers?

Well, maybe when I get all the way down to researcher number 3 (if there is one... maybe they started at 5 digits or something) I'll start from your page and work down from there. Nah, I'll visit your page now just 'cause you asked.

Thanks,
my ego was so pleased it's nipped off to the pub without me.
Maybe I can get some proper work done without it.

Work? Nah... go to the pub and watch your ego make a fool of itself. Make it buy all your drinks too.

Hello aPerson!
Going through the guide one researcher at a time doesn't seem to work too well - too many people sign up and never come back
Why not join a few h2g2 clubs or head to some of the more popular forums? I'm happy to point the way to a few if you like - I'm one of the ACEs (Assistant Community Editors) that has volunteered to help greet researchers and help show them around h2g2. If you have any questions, you can't go wrong asking an ACE
See you around

The other problem with this method is that not all researcher numbers are used & the site will send you a default empty user page rather than the more traditional http 404 not found error. So you could be looking at a lot of non existant pages

Hi.
I realise that I could just look through Guide entries and post to those forums... but I was being particularly uncreative and couldn't even think of anything to search the guide for (there must be some kind of mathematical relation here... the more information there seems to be available, the harder it is to think of something to look up), so I started just looking for researcher pages. I suspected that perhaps for some numbers there was no actual researcher yet - but still, there were quite a few where the name had been changed and not the page. I love these new Christmassy smiley faces I love software etc which changes with the season, it's a nice surprise.
