(Manfred Mann's Earth Band)
Had an early morning drive to catch the 7:03 train bound for the middle of Jutland and a dairy trade show
The iPod kicked off with the plea for Carol not to kill it - and I spent most of the rest of the drive trying to figure out when it was I saw Manfred Mann's Earth Band live in Copenhagen.
I do remember who I was with - basically, the high school newspaper crew, so 1981 plus or minus a year can't be half wrong.
Brilliant concert. Man, the music was excellent - and the little detail that makes it even more special to remember was the stage tech who had to come out and solder something back together on Mr Mann's synth, kneeling there in front of all the gear with a wee torch clamped between his teeth. While Manfred Mann fired off a solo on whatever other keyboards that did work. Music never missed a beat.
Wonder what today's computer driven shows would sound like under similar circumstances?
(santra'ed from a train at Odense Station, waiting for it to get on with the trip to Herning)
