Hello there
Well, I'm not an expert on the subject, but I would hypothesise that noise is caused by things being too loud. But some noises aren't too loud, which would suggest that we've evolved to have a higher tolerance for noise than what we had when things first got too loud.
I like the sounds my computer makes... especially the sound of a CD-ROM whirring or a Jaz cartridge making Jaz cartridgy noises, because both those things I didn't have a year and a half ago, and the novelty hasn't worn off yet. I also like the noise my new camera makes when it winds the film on, because the camera I had before that didn't have amy fancy elecronic stuff to make that nice electronic whirring noise, and it makes me feel like the new camera was much more expensive than the old one even though it wasn't. I think basically I like noises that make things I own sound expensive. Well, unless it's the noise of something breaking which would be expensive to fix.
I have a small noise in the fridge at the moment which I think I will eat just to see what small noises taste like... it's in my box of Irish chocolates and it's called a noisette.

There are no noises coming from your computer - it's just a paranoid delusion...
