Hi Gwennie...I thought I might just drop on by and intrude. I somehow feel you won't mind. I'll check out that 'Elton' character here in Canada...I'm sure he won't be difficult too find. Then we can share in some funny stuff...oh how I love to laugh!

Of course you're not intruding and I'm pleased you took the time to visit! I have a couple of Ben Elton's videos from his past "stand up" tours. They obviously get quite rude at times, but "it's the way he tells 'em". My daughter, Mair was laughing so much at a video I recently bought that she was crying and sliding off the sofa! (I should introduce some of his books to her.)
I own up to liking the Sue Townsend books too ("Adrian Mole") but my favourite is the "Queen and I". Oh, and anything by Tom Sharp or Spike Milligan aslo! I've sat alone on a packed commuter train in the past whilst reading a Tom Sharp book and have been in the embarassing situation of trying not to laugh because of all the attention I was drawing to myself and the more I tried not to laugh, the worse it became. I eventually managed to get myself under control only to get to another paragraph which set me off again! (I was rapidly clearing a space around myself on the train!) Not one person commented or asked me what I was reading....what a bunch of "sad gits"!
If you'd like I could give the titles and ISDN numbers of the Ben Elton books and maybe your local library could order them for you to borrow. I love buying books but they are so expensive that I have had to ration my purchases and constantly raid the local library.

Oh Yes! Titles please!! It's so amazing when people don't want to get in on the joke and enjoy a laugh. I wonder, when they finally arrive home do they bother to mention to anyone about the lady who was laughing and reading and what could be soo funny, or do they just wonder and wander?

Its really funny how laughing like that when you know you shouldn't be makes the whole thing funnier! The great London commuter train is an unsociable experience at the best of times....
Here are the titles of books by Ben Elton:
Stark
Gridlock
This Other Eden
Popcorn
If you'd like to Email me at home, my address is: [email protected]. I'd love to hear from you and we could "talk" in more detail without my telephone bill suffering (we've just had a bill for £220).

Oh, I forgot the book I was copying the titles from: "Blast From the Past"! I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached to my neck - oops, it just fell off! Excuse me while my body tries to locate it .....
