Hi there ACEs
Call to arms ........

We should ALL have something in our messages. Sometime ago, Jimster gave us the following to add to our greeting:
>>H2G2 is a living, breathing guide to Life, the Universe and Everything. Take a look in here: <./>info?cmd=art</.> It's something YOU can take part in. You can write entries on all manner of subjects, and if it's something you think would look good in our Edited Guide (where all the best research goes), you can submit it to Peer Review.<<

Well, I don't have it in my message - although I do have a similar, I'll look at changing mine later.
I did find that a sort of problem - the badge didn't come with specific instructions.

I know
Then we have to contend with our Newbies leaping into PR before they have read things properly
Oh ACEing can be such fun!

Yes, that's what I'm a bit worried about. Then again, newbies do that anyway.

Yeah, I know all of that ... and how irritating it can be ..... but how else can we get newbies (appropriate newbies) to write anything.
When I landed here I didn't even know *anyone* could write for the Guide .... when I looked in PR I thought it was some sort of group for selected writers I didn't realise even a plank like me could write for the Guide..... so it might be important to emphasize it a bit more.

I had the same thoughts too. Even thought VV had written things for the Guide, I still didn't think I was capable of producing anything worth reading. It took me 2 years to pluck up the courage
I love to see my newbies finding their place within the Guide.

I've always encouraged those newbies who get back to me to write for the guide - and mostly with success. I wouldn't really know what else to do.
And isn't it typical that it's the same aces posting here that do this sort of thing anyway?

Well, keep talking and maybe the others will spot it when they come online.
If we get enough ACEs willing to participate in an extra push I'll post on the Scouts page and see if we can get their help for our newbies.

Well I don't know how many Scouts there are .... but if they're all ACEs then there's no point in posting there.
Hey ..... if they're all ACEs how come they give newbies in PR such a hard time then.

They only do when what the newbies submitted is completely unsuitable for the EG. I've never seen anybody giving a newbie with a good entry a hard time.

Well I don't recall it either, but I have seen some genuine attempts at an entry get short shrift.
I've also been wondering if PR should be more about content and less about nit-picking...... for newbies at least.

I have a section about it in my welcome, but it might not be clear enough.
Off to welcome more newbies!

I've had a version of Jimster's "spiel" as a leading bit of my message for some time and I try to encourage as many as possible, but, for a newbie PR can be quite daunting.
BTW - I'm back to "normal" now (no comments from you lil ) and have checked all the newbies for the past 2 weeks. (I alwways do that to find them wot post to their own spaces.) So, gladly, I'll be able to start doing my share.
Thank you to you all for taking up my slack
