Ginger Baker
Ormondroyd Posted Apr 1, 2001
Here's a true and topical story about Ginger.
Some time in the mid-Eighties, the "NME" music paper ran a spoof news story for April Fool's Day claiming that Ginger had joined Public Image Ltd., the band John Lydon/Johnny Rotten formed after the Sex Pistols split. It fooled some readers and prompted a few letters, but the next week they admitted it had been a gag - the joke obviously being that Lydon and Baker was the most unlikely musical partnership they could think of.
But before long, the joke story was virtually true. Ginger played on PiL's 1986 album - the one that was simply titled "Album", "Compact Disc" or "Cassette", depending on which format you were looking at!

A potentially unpleasant attempt at pointless aggression against us ACEs got diverted into a harmless chat about rock trivia. Cunning, huh?
