Actually the lyrics were from two different songs.. (The *hic* was the sound of a needle jumping into the next track, except the songs weren't even by the same artists, much less on the same album. )

"Smash"? Oooh..
They did the Monster Mash
It was a graveyard smash
It caught on in a flash
They did the Monster Mash
(Yeah, bit early... and the choir lines have been omitted)

Tie a yellow ribbon
'Round the old oak tree
It's been three long years
Do ya still want me
If I don't see a ribbon
Round the old oak tree
I'll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon
'Round the old oak tree

*The old home town looks the same
As I step down from the train
And there to greet me
Are my momma and poppa
And down the road I look
And there walks Mary
Hair of gold
and lips like cherries
It's good to touch
The green green grass of home

And they'll all come to see me
'Neath the shade of that old oak trea
As they lay me 'neath
The green, green grass of home
