I may have mentioned before that some thirty years ago I won a set of very good saucepans from the now defunct magazine 'She' (for solving a difficult crossword puzzle)
Yesterday I put some rhubarb on to cook and completely forgot it. The saucepan is now completely black and will take hours and hours to clean, probably not restoring it to its former glory. Should I just chuck it?

Boil the rhubarb leaves in it. Isn't that how they used to clean burned pans long ago?
If not, contact the company and tell how good their pans have been for 30 years, and that you cannot imagine life without this one.
You just might receive a complimentary pan from them

WS mentions in Post 1 that "She" magazine is "now defunct".
I have found that with most magazines I go in to buy occasionally when I'm in the UK. I asked for "Mad" magazine, as something to bring home for the kids. The girl had never heard of it. (In this case, it really was a girl) I checked up on the internet. Although Mad magazine is still going in the States, it died out in Britain some years ago.
And another favourite of ours which we used to subscribe to when the kids were small was "Family Circle". Brilliant, realistic, useable recipes and ideas which I still used today. I have had to photocopy most of them because the mags were falling apart.
I looked it up - it went out of circulation in the mid 1980's.
So - what magazines are there in the UK for working mothers and desperate housewives?

Do you have snails/slugs in the garden? If so, place the scorched pan upside down on the grass. Perhaps put a twig under one side, so they can come in. They will happily clean your pan for you. Then wash it, of course

I have put off doing anything as my arthritic hand has made life difficult this week, but I bought some scratchy scourers at Poundland today. If they don't work, I'll put it in the garden rather than the bin. That solution appeals to me.

Let us know if English slugs are as good as Swedish slugs.
