What we truly can't see we don't understand.
Warning: this is a video which lasts just under ten and a half minutes:

"What we truly can't see we don't understand"
the invisible bond between friendsI don't need to understand it. The fact that it's there is proof of it's existence

Two good responses from two old friends
I just posted it out of interest. I'm not advocating it, though it reminds me of the things we gloss over in life, like not understanding gravity or electricity.
He may not be that good because he's a journalist not a scientist. Scientists don't usually tell us what they don't understand...
Strange he was bothered by not being able to see thoughts, though.

I've found it on YouTube, Bel. It's 'John Lloyd Inventories The Invisible' there. Try this link:

I've lurked by a couple of times and made a mental note to come back and do the job properly, so to speak.
Well, I finally got to watch the video and very entertaining it was too. I like to think of this kind of thing as 'scientainment'. It contains lots of little gems of scientific rationality — I'm not going to say fact, for obvious reasons — but also makes some nicely entertaining leaps. Given the level of scientific knowledge among the general populace, probably much the same as mine, i.e. somewhat flaky to say the least, much of what he has to say carries a flavour of reliability if not the compelling tone of authority.
A dearly liked physics teacher from my youth — yes, I did have one — always insisted that we lads believe what he told us as fact since it was the current set of lies and we didn't have anything better for the time being! Nice!
As for the concept of invisibility, and that being applied to just about anything that mattered, I find the notion very enticing. It appeals to my quirky sense of 'reality' not to mention humour. It will give me great delight to watch this video again and try to follow more closely this time just what he is saying instead of merely being entertained.
