Now I have got your attention, I just thought I would pop over and tell you I am interested in helping you with the updating scheme. I have spoken to Anna and she has set me some tasks
I am writing up volunteer guidelines and my simplified version of how the scheme will work. Once I have finished them I will invite you over to look at them.

Careful Mikey! This is me we are talking about.
So what about A982172?
Have I missed anything out?

Looking good, Abi. The only thing I would add is that when researchers are starting a new thread in the Update Workshop (or whatever it's to be called), they should have to give the A# not just of their new, revised version of the entry, but also of the original entry.
The system should probably prompt them at that point to say 1) why they think the entry needs updating, and 2) what changes they've made. In a longish entry, a casual glance comparing them side by side won't necessarily bring to eye the changes, so this could be important.
Of course, being the linkinator that I am, I think it's also worth suggesting that people update the links in the entry -- check and see if there are any new EG entries that their entry should be linked to.
The one thing that was unclear was this -- in PR, scouts do the picking, subs to the editing. Even if you're one of each, you don't generally end up subbing the entry you pick. Here, all Updaters will be essentially sub and scout both -- so should we automatically have them sub the entry they picked?

It was until yesterday when Anna kicked my behind about it.
Unfotunately my eye got taken off the ball by the internal reoganisation and the move back down to Bush House.
We have had a few more volunteers for this, so I am going to get in touch with them and work out a list of things to do.

Hi
We are really starting to kick on with the Updating scheme. Mikey, are you still interested in being one of the volunteers on this?
I want to be supplying one entry to the front page by the end of June, but we might hit this target prior to that. We will then let the scheme run like this for a while and see if there are any wrinkles that need to be ironed out.
I am having a meeting with Anna today or tomorrow to finalise the last details and then I will let you know the latest details.

Of course I still want to be involved, you can't get rid of me at this point in the game, Abi!
I'm still disappointed about what happened when I went and tried to update the Hanging Gardens of Babylon (ask Anna if you want the details) -- hopefully we won't run into any more of those when the Update Scheme gets up and running!

Any more news yet on the Update scheme? Any (near) finalized plans? Anything I can help out with at this point?

Unless Abi's online at home, I wouldn't expect too much to move until Tuesday, Mikey - it's a Bank Holiday Weekend over here, so I doubt there'll be anyone officially 'in' at the Towers.

Where am I up to? Well I have to draft the official pages for the scheme and I need to get a new review forum started up for the scheme, so I need to go and talk to the DNA team about that.

Is this still happening? Should we give up?
I've been holding back on my linkinator updates a bit, because I kept expecting this new scheme to fall into place any time now. If it's going to be quite another while, though, I will go back to doing it my old way.
Although if that's the case, who should I send my entries to now (being that it was Anna before). When Anna was on maternity leave, I think I sent them to Ashley -- should I go back in that direction again? (Even though Ashley doesn't like all my links -- ).

Sorry yes I am.
But, Natalie has made it part of my forward job plan and as such I cannot not do it!
