I'm not sure if there is anyone left on my friends list who remembers this h2g2 researcher, but I am passing on the sad news that Barton died on Saturday.
I will find out if there are any plans for a memorial or such, and will post any details here.
There just aren't any smileys I can make myself use for this one.

Oh, no! That's really a shame. I knew he wasn't doing very well, but that had been some time ago.
Poor guy. Really a neat person, and never really complained about his ailment, even when given the opportunity. He will be missed.
