Maybe I'm too old (At 30 I can't remember the last time I watched TOTP or listened to Radio1 ) ... but I can't work out how on earth to play the song title game thingy ...
Please explain to a thick Taffy what you are supposed to do!

Hi there MTRF It was originally on the list of Whose Line is it Anyway games but that has disappeared so Kareem started it again here after the interregnum (h0g0, Rupert whatever).
The idea is that the song you post must be linked in some way to the previous one - a word in the title or artist may be linked with one in yours. Some prefer more esoteric links (see some of Argon0's) - whatever - if challenged, you should explain your link. Repition is frowned upon too but as the thread is nearly 2000 posts long, if a reasonable length of time has past it doesn't reall matter.
Hope that helps.

Nice to see you over there now DE Welcome!
Watch out for rampant simulposting, its quiet now but at busy times it can move faster than a speeding bullet. It gets my homepage on the 5 busiest forums nearly every day .
Next week is the time for me too now, hope I get the email (you've got me worried now )

I'm currently tracking through the backlog now I know how it works
I kept seeing it on busiest forums and wanted to join in but as I didn't quite know how...
Pre-work-placement I managed to be first or second poster in forums for all five positions on the busiest forums list (including my homepage) Can't keep up with these games anymore though
I think Peta just overlooked me. I would have mentioned it to her earlier but I was on holiday. I should imagine you'll have no trouble though(and I'll complain on your behalf if necessary )

All five positions???!!! Now I'm impressed, I've managed to get on two at once but that is incredible. You don't know Shea do you? She's the most rampant poster these days (closely followed by Dragonfly and myself I think )
Thanks for your support but I'm sure it won't be necssary

Unfortunately not, I've not quite reached the same level of output, though I did manage to hit the top spot a few weeks ago (she must have been taking a break, I only got 100 postings in 24 hours). I did get spotted by the PTWVH back when I was just a researcher number because I hit the top of the stats list (before it was public) which they didn't expect from someone without a name.(I had been hanging around the site for a few months but hadn't come up with a nickname I liked)
As for all the positions, I was having a lot of conversations with Joanna(Princess of Darkness) and Demon Drawer at the time and it was my page, Joanna's, The Waterworks and beach (due to the doughnut stall), the F&F and something else, might have been the James Bond film.

Someone ages ago decided that PTB - Powers That Be was a little stilted and aloof to be used as a reference for the editorial staff, so they came up with Powers That Work Very Hard or PTWVH instead

Hello, I'm taking a rest from the simulpost hell going on right now in the song thread. Has anyone ever played "6 steps from Kevin Bacon"?
The idea is that you can link from any actor, director, film etc back to Kevin Bacon in six steps or less.

I've tried and ususally failed
If you want a challenge: Zoe McLellan
There is some theory that you can link every person in the world through only six or seven other people in a similar way.

I've never really got to grips with the Kevin Bacon game either, mainly because I'm not that hot on movie trivia.
As to linking the population of the world in only a few steps, you're probably quite right. I read somehwere that 85% of the US population is directly related to the Queen of England if you trace the line back as far as William the Conqueror (1066 and all that).

It would probably have changed the whole declaration of independence if they had thought they might actually inherit the throne

Actually there is a school of thought that says that the English won the American War of Independence...
Think of it this way. George Washington was English in an English colony, therefore all of his troops were English. He lead a war against George III who was a German King who used a mercenary army recruited from all over the place, particularly from Germany....
Therefore We (the English) Won

Hey, Grey Desk, is there any truth in the rumour that the PTWVH are creating a statistic column entitled ... Person with most identities on h2g2?
