whats the deal with the zaphodistas and the beeb.....been away for a bit and trying to get a feel for things.....

H2G2 went offline, in case you haven't heard yet, without telling anyone about it beforehand. As time progressed, a sense of doom was building up in the back of everyone's throats, and various rumours were passed about, the two most feared being that h2g2 was 1) broke, or 2) bought out. Fortunately, h2g2 was merely bought out, meaning that we're all still here (obviously).

In any event, here's the deal: the BBC took over h2g2 and instantly went about changing various rules. Just for the sake of hearing myself talk (hey, we conceited people need to get something out of life, right?), they went about getting rid of offsite pictures, they no longer allowed links to offsite webpages in forums, and forbid the use of languages other than English, just to name a few things.

Anyway, people didn't like it, especially not a certain Subcommandante. He started a small passive-resistance group, which quickly snowballed into a larger group of people that would passively resist the BBC by playing within the rules (for instance, updating all of their hidden guide entries, putting broken picture links on their own user spaces instead of the pics that the BBC provide, putting links to other websites on their main user space pages, and generally doing everything within their power short of ranting and raving and generally being rude). Thus came the Zaphodistas.

Everyone's feeling confused at the moment, and we're all trying to work for rules and regulations that are more like the times before h2g2's plug was pulled, and most researchers have decided to just sit around, and try to let things sort themselves out.

Need anything else? BTW, have I met you before on the Guide? I have a vague recollection of seeing a name like yours before, and you bear the title of muse (I'm muse of mad science and holistic detecting, BTW), although I don't remember you from any of the muse mailing list discussions. I don't think you're Titania (the other muse of confusion), because she's been here for a while now. So, do I know you, or is this just coincidence? Sorry if I do know you, I've just got a terrible memory for names.

on the muse front i wasnt one before.......and im not entirely sure im alowed to be....are there cryteria?

There's not really any criteria. You just have to sign up at the Musehome with a certain topic(s) that you want to be muse of. I believe muse of confusion is taken, but I think there's still a position open for Muse Of 6 Foot Green Squirrels.
