OH LORD!!!
An editor at a Denver paper just called me, in response to my cover letter and resume... And...
Oh boy...
I have an interview set up. For tomorrow. He suggested I am best suited for an Assistant position... above Journalist...
It'd be a significant cut in pay, but I'll be using what I know, not what I've been trained to do!!!
Dad thinks this could mean no more Antarctica. We'll have to wait and see. It will probably mean no more volunteering abroad. For this point in life. I can give the gig a couple of years... and well, who knows!??
YAY!!!!
...I am STILL shaking... STILL....
I am shaking....

Thank you.... thank you...
I'm slightly jolted, though.... if I get this position, it could mean bye-bye grand travel adventures. At least for awhile... right!??
(Whenever people say "for awhile", it often ends up being never... but of course, I've proven I'm quite different from most people....)
But all that and the daunting daily commute be damned... this is a career move... and a new adventure on its own...
And I don't even HAVE the job right now...
So I shall try to calm down.... ahhhh...

.....oooo!!! AND... this could very well lead to Travel Journalism, and it certainly wouldn't hurt with Travel Writing prospects...

Do it, follow your dreams while you have no ties or responsibilities, only yourself.
Be free - life ties you down all too soon and you'll spend many years wishing you'd done things when you weren't tied
Sorry.
Good luck, go for it.

Well, GB... that's part of my apprehension. Truth be told, I'd rather WRITE and work with words for a living than push the ocassional broom and count tills at Wal*Mart...
My apprehension is.... "Man... I was so ready to take off for places far away... now... if this is REALLY good... am I going to be able to accomplish the same things!??"
It won't be in the same time frame... not by the same methods I've been planning. Of course, I won't know anything, really, for another 24 hours... and maybe I have a longer wait than that!!!!
I won't know til I try. I don't know what's out there. I can prove myself for this line of work, and within the company, do what I did with Wal*Mart... move about a bit. Get into the Travel section...
It'll work out.

....I'll be ok.... really... my travel plans allowed me time to hit all seven continents by 2012, anyway... I just got ing excited because it COULD happen this summer is all....
(and I was planning on getting it done this summer, in part, because it'd mean no Wal*Marting around)
AND... should I get this, it means SHOPPING FOR PRETTY CLOTHES!!!
I have a little business attire already... but I prefer how I look in slacks than in jeans...
YAY!!!!
