Forget that "Know thyself" !!! You can earn a PhD in yourself and still... be a slave to your bad habits.
I think I've come quite a ways in owning myself, in realizing I don't HAVE to play victim to my own weaknesses.
But of course, I'm not very good at it yet.
Learning.
I had tried very hard to shut out my soft, silly, romantic side for a bit. I did a scaringly good job of it for a short while. Then, I achieved balance. Bad thing, though... it was a temporary balance.
Anyway... what brought this on tonight!??
... I w*rk in Wal*Fart's Holiday Shop. I've beeen in the world of C-mas for maybe two months now already!!! My co-worker Caitlyn and I are the only ones who seem able to tolerate holiday music.
I was listening to one of the songs on our communal C-mas cds and suddenly... magically... I was once again making cookies with my brother and my grandmother.
Forget the mistletoe. Ok, I won't do that entirely... but I don't have to cling to love and romance as I KNOW I did every freakin' C-mas since... well, since just when, I dunno. But.
This is a matter of owning myself. Of owning the holidays. Making them my own, not what anyone else thinks or wants them to be.
So.
The holidays are going to be 90-100% about fun and silliness and remembering those hours spent making cookies; the way Mom STILL yells at me on C-mas morning for knocking the ornaments off of the bottom of the tree; listening to her students play holiday tunes; WONDERFUL family dinners; me making those nummy appetizers; playing games; snow and cold outside and warm inside.
Own thyself.
Cause you're who you always have to sleep with.

it seems you own yourself, because you are not slave (commercal) others!
C-mas here starts after 5 december, because we have "Sinterklaas" first. "Sinterklaas" / Saint Nicolas was a Bishop who gave poor kids about 400 years ago on his birtday.
may be you give this to Bush voters around you

... being an individual doesn't mean owning yourself. Did van Gogh own himself!??
Maybe I mean... "self control" or summat.

Some people express it as being "centered." There's a person inside you with a sense of purpose, someone who can say no to unreasonable demands from others, but not necessarily with anger or fear...

That's close...
What I'm trying to say is that I'm getting better at not letting the outer world affect me innerly...
Hi, fari!!! Thanks for posting!!! I am in "Writing by Numbers," indeed... is that where you found me!??
I don't think I change my name too often. Probably once a month if not more often, and it's just the dribble that follows the main name of "Dragonfly"... It's a sort of h2g2 tradition...
I am pretty knocked out by a dern flu shot I got yesterday. Silly me thinking I can w*rk full shifts...

I can remember when there were no flu shots. If the flu came around, either you caught it or you didn't. Nowadays people panic if there aren't enough shots to go around...

Dribble!?!?? I meant drivel...
Yeah, Paul... I don't want to get the stinkin' shot, but, there are extenuating circumstances and all that rubbish in my circumstance.
WHHEEEE!!!!
.... very weird... last year when I got the flu shot, I thought, "HA HA HA!!! This is the last time I'll ever have one, unless I get really really old and they make me!!!"
Cause I was going to be in England during flu season.
Not sure just what to make of England right now. I bloody love the place. I'm thinking about grad school in England or Scotland. Bye bye, monies...
(I told Mom I was thinking of London or Edinburgh for school, and she got VERY upset. Meh.)

There was an article this spring or so that was saying how no one's really an adult until they are 25 or older, thanks to college.
Yep.
I'll NEVER be a real adult!!! YAY!!!
