A week ago I had an appointment with my counsellor with the welfare system. I was informed at this meeting that my schooling will no longer count as 40 hours of "work" and that for me to continue recieving financial benefits I will now have to actually find 20 hours of work each week. There are a couple of options on this.
The first is for me to work a state-sponsored "internship". This would be unpaid and I would have to go wherever the state wanted me to go, not very conducive to my education.
The second option is to go out and find an actual job. I will have to report any earnings over a certain amount to the state but I will have an actual income for the 1st time in more than 2 years.
Here's the rub, I have to have this set up by October 2nd. Not a lot of time. I have applied for one posting at school but have not heard anything on it, I have contacted them since I applied. I applied for another posting today and will be applying for another tonight.

Is there an internship that you can get through the school system? For my senior year in college, we were required to have a certain number of internship hours... which served me well when it was time to look for a job.
It really sucks that it's such short notice, though! One week is not enough time to find a job. Average job-finding time is about six weeks, at best.

I'm looking at a lot of different things right now, it is probably too late to find a good internship through school though.
