h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well it's currently 11.10 south west of Exeter on Sunday morning, and I'm writing this in the car on the way home from the kid brother's graduation weekend. It's been a bit of a mixed thingumy in my opinion, and was ready for coming home a lot earlier than this (what with the ceremony being Friday morning), but "other arrangements" had already been made, more on that later.

As I said in my posting on Wednesday afternoon, I was traveling down to Plymouth that evening. Traffic as well as the weather was atrocious; getting from the front door to the M6 at Warrington, a journey that even at the worst of times should take just 20 minutes, took over an hour. Blame the Thelwall Viaduct, I doubt that bridge will ever be free of roadworks. After there though the journey was uneventful, not even hold-ups at Birmingham and Bristol.

We got to Taunton for about 10.30, and the parents had the "bright idea" of crashing for the night in a motel at Taunton Deane services. Now some of you may remember the story of the last time I shared a motel room with my 'rents about four years ago, I ended up sleeping in the bath due to their noise. Since then, this motel's rules had changed so no more than two people 16 or over can share a room. This was fine with me (for obvious reasons), but the 'rents decided we'd move on to Tiverton instead. My chances of a peaceful night shattered.
